Sutliff Tobacco Company Black Cherry B23
(2.00)
Toasted black cavendish forms the base for this blend with bright cavendish and Virginia added to create a very easy smoking tobacco. A subtle and very smooth cherry flavor is applied to the mixture for sweetness and an incredibly enjoyable aroma.

This one had a light smooth flavor, I could absolutely taste the cherry without over powering the other subtle notes. I tasted cherry, a little vanilla, and caramel, the flavor evolved for me about 3/4 through, to a more tobacco flavor and the sweetness trailed off. A solid smoke and good for mixing in a blend. My room note elf could detect cherry and vanilla, with a little spice too. On the beard sent scale it's a 4, definitely leaves a cherry scent that is crisp and clean.

The Virginia is a little grassy with a touch of tart and tangy citrus. The bright cavendish doesn't add much flavor, but there is a little sugar from the toasted black cavendish. The black cherry topping is sweet and very slightly tart, and doesn't weaken at any time, and is mostly what you taste. The strength is mild, and the taste is in the center of mild to medium. Has little nicotine. Burns cool and clean and slightly slow as the tobacco is a little moist. Has a deeply rich, very consistent tart and tangy sweet flavor from top to bottom. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, but no goop or dottle. Requires a few relights. No bite or harshness is present. Has a very pleasant, lightly linger after taste and room note. An all day smoke.

I bought a pouch of this stuff in a recent order to make some Hobbit's Weed, since P&C was out of Lane's Very Cherry, I figured it would be a decent substitute (in spite of my dislike for Sutliff products). Well, it was indeed a Cherry Aromatic, but one with a more generic presentation, giving off a less sweet, medice-forward bag aroma. It was not terribly inviting.
The paper thin flakes were a bit sticky to the touch, resisted the lighter, and caused minor dampness in the bowl. The cherry flavor came across somewhat, but was never tart or sugary - perhaps Black Cherry is meant to be deeper? Wasn't completely artificial, but nothing I would ever grab when craving a Cherry smoke. As expected, nothing here is terribly strong or Nicotine heavy, didn't appear to be a ghosting culprit, yet nothing I would consider an all day smoke, as it left a slightly harsh finish.
In terms of a Hobbit Weed mixer, it worked sorta, but the end result wasn't as juicy, and detracted from the BCA's Chocolate/Vanilla sweetness.

Subtle Cherry notes and smells great but pretty bland in the smoke. You can easily taste the Black Cavendish but I think it would be better if I could taste the cherry. the tin note is natural smelling cherry, no Cough syrup here. Smokes quite well.

Not a very flavorful tobacco. Hints of cherry and vanilla. Not a very sweet or flavorful tobacco. Bland is not quite fair either. Just didn't inspire me to buy more. I enjoy sutliff tobacco blends as well. Sutliff is definitely my favorite tobacco brand.

Sutliff Tobacco Co. - Black Cherry B23.
In pouch sits a fairly coarse mixture with a higher amount of brown Cavendish and Virginia compared to black Cavendish; 2/3 brown to 1/3 black. The pouch note clarifies what type of smoke's coming up: a potent cherry one. Moistness is good.
I find the cherry addition is more involved with the flavour than the tobaccos. It's easily above medium, to my palate. It tastes 'false', sharp and too sweet. What tobaccos I get are quite 'dull' tasting; the topping would require a piquant set of tobaccos to get noticed, where as these are quite hum-drum. However it's refreshing to have an aromatic where the palate isn't awash with sticky, vanilla, black Cavendish. It burns medium in temperature, steadily, but can give me a bite.
Nicotine: mild. Room-note: pleasant.
Black Cherry? A two star aromatic:
Somewhat recommended.

Sour cherries and strong vanilla flavors upon opening the package, but in the end just tastes like black Cavendish. There's a hint of cherry flavor but it's almost non-existent. Some chemical processing flavor and a whiff of chocolate and grass. A bit disappointing. I can't find a Sutliff cherry blend that's decent.

I haven’t had any luck with Sutliff blends. This Black Cherry at least smelled of cherry in the sampler baggy. So I transferred it to my leather travel pouch. The first bowl smoked well enough, with minimal bite and at least a trace of cherry topping. But by the next bowl the flavor was gone. Still minimal bite but only a generic tobacco flavor remained. And it really ghosted the two pipes I used to try it. By now my patience is gone for blends that don’t live up to what’s advertised or do it poorly. Not recommended.

Vaguely pleasant, the cherry is very understated and the Cavendish itself adds little to the experience. Sort of like smoking warm air. Very wet and sticky, but burns fairly well. Recommended if you're looking for a very mild and inoffensive cherry.

MEH! A bland mix, the cherry was mild, too mild, no complexity. It also started turning sour towards the bottom of the bowl. The moisture level was good and it burned well, Room note and pouch note were underwhelming.

Bought in bulk.
Slight cherry smell. Smoked well enough. Not a very strong cherry flavor it was hardly noticeable compared to other cherry blends I have had. Other Sutliff aromatics have decent flavoring but the dark cherry has a very mild cherry taste. More tobacco than cherry. If that’s your thing then check it out.
