F & K Bat With A Hat
(3.00)
A sweet blend of burley, Virginia, and Green River leaf, Bat with a Hat, as F&K puts it, "tastes like heaven and is crazy as hell." Would we expect anything less from the makers of Merde de Cheval?

Opening the can you are greeted with a scent not unlike Kentucky Nougat from G&H. Don't be fooled.. it's not nearly as strong! The moisture level is pretty decent in the tin, and the variated ribbons and chunks of black and light brown are sticky to the touch. Packs fairly easily and lights decently.. initial flavor is highly cased. This stays pretty much the same to the bottom of the bowl. Not much tobacco flavor to be had it must be very light. I swear I can taste some type of preservative... same thing I taste in some C&D products, Lane bulk, and some others like Villiger. Not sure if PG, some anti-fungal, or liquor? I puffed like a champ trying to get some vitamin N but couldn't get much... and though it started to burn a little hot, it never bit. Room note is very very good. Smokes all the way to the bottom of the bowl but is a little goopey leaving some sticky moisture. Overall an alright smoke but not one I would buy again or keep on hand. Would be a good starter for a new smoker, but I feel like it's so light I could smoke this whole tin today!

Tin note of caramel, vanilla and spices. Tobacco is a mix cut of brown and black. Moisture content is goopy. Drying for a day is required. Burns slow with many relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. Flavoring is medium, with notes of caramel, vanilla. Flavor lessens a bit, but never drop to the background. Taste is medium and somewhat consistent, with notes of caramel, vanilla, floral, spices, sugar, nuts, sweet grass, cocoa, toast, peaty vegetation, wood, earth, zesty orange peel, dry graham cracker, a sour citrus and dark fruit background note, and a peppery retro. Flavoring is leading with Cavendish, Burley, Virginia supporting. Room note is pleasant, and aftertaste is ok.

As aromatics go, this one doesn’t stand out but it’s not horrible either. It does what aromatics are meant to do, smell good to those around you. It does provide flavor to the smoker, which is a plus. Sort of a vanilla, caramel citrusy flavor. Not at all unpleasant but I wouldn’t buy it again.
