Pfeifen Huber Virginia Golden Flake
(3.89)
Georg Huber's personal Virginia specialty: three different Virginia tobaccos pressed and then cut into ribbon-flakes. Finally a little honey-flavour is added. This is an exclusive flake with a gentle aroma.
Notes: Formerly known as Virginia Honeydew Flake.

I was given a nice sample of this by a pipe-colleauge and at first I wrote this off as some ChooChooTrain-alike and ChooChoo was a tad too sweet, a bit too less tobacco-y for me. But sticking my nose into the sample baggie a very natural scent is swirling out. Barely detectable a mild honey-note is present. Mostly unconspicious smell of tobacco-y Virginia.
The ribbon-flakes are lovely and quite a joy to handle.
On first light I instantly noticed the very mild honey flavoring in the back, as it was underscoring the bready, very grassy of fresh mown grass and mildly citrusy-tangy Virginia, which was slowly building up the listed aromas whilst the first few puffs. Evolving into a very tasteful Virginia melange that's really just speckled with dew of honey. This blend is not overly sweet and has decent spice to make this close to being full-bodied, yet mellow and smooth.
No rough edges, all is in balance and it never bites nor does it get harsh. Even tho this won't make a place in my daily rotation, I'll have to give it credits for being much more natural than ChooChoo Train who I ratet 3 stars. Tobacco underscored by a mild flavoring, not the other way round.
