Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Sliced Black Twist
(3.31)
Manufactured by spinning dark fired leaves into a rope. Black Bogie, cooked longer than Brown Bogie makes it milder with a smoky aroma. It's a true old fashioned stout smoke with good strength perfect for the more experienced pipe smoker. Ready sliced for your convenience.
Notes: This is the version of Black Irish X that has been sliced into fine, dime-sized, coins.

A very dark chocolate brown ribbon. It has a dried fruit and spice tin note, and a significant lakeland presence, to my nose sandalwood and geranium. Perhaps these notionally unscented tobaccos pick up aromas along the way at G&H but its something I've noticed in all of their pipe tobaccos. This tobacco also has an interesting earthy smell, a petrichor smell that is not unpleasant.
Now to the bad news. Once lit there is something very unpleasant happening, at least for me, with this stuff. With my first bowl I seriously thought I might have managed to get a piece of plastic or hair into the bowl. But each bowl since confirms that this unpleasant aroma is all Sliced Black Twist.
I really didn't like this tobacco, which surprised me since the G&H Irish Twist I found to be acceptable, if unremarkable. But this I cannot recommend.
Edit. I really have to say this. I have given this baccy a fair shot but I find it unsmokeable. It is a grotesque. Aros aside, this is the worst tobacco I have ever smoked.
