Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Rum Twist Unsliced Rope

(3.33)
From Pipes&Cigars website: Sweet Rum Twist is made of the same tobaccos as Black and Brown Irish X, with a sweet rum topping. The flavor is lightly noticeable in the flavor, by not readily apparent in the aroma. This is a full-bodied smoke that shouldn't be treated like a typical aromatic.

Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. - Rum Twist Unsliced Rope.

As usual with ropes/twists it's a little moist inside. I like mine rubbed rather than just stuffed inside the bowl in coins so I slice, let it breathe, and crumble.

The flavour from RTUR isn't as harsh as one might expect from a rum tobacco. The rum sweetens the smoke with a touch of molasses but the alcohol doesn't impede. The tobacco gives the leading flavour, stout and robust. It burns well to a pure white ash, giving a bite free smoke all the way.

Nicotine: strong. Room-note: strong.

A nice enough smoke but I'll rate it with two stars:

Somewhat recommended.

The presentation is great. Looks kind of like a coiled cigar. It smells funky with a touch of sweetness.

The taste is the closest thing a pipe blend comes to a cigar. I did not really get much rum in the taste. The smoke gets really dense, and there is kind of a smokiness to the taste, with wood notes, and a dark and grainy sweetness. It is in no way saccharine-like, not flue-cured-like, or cane sugar sweet. You also really have to sip this and take your time, which can be frustrating, to get the sweetness.

You have to do a bit of work to get the combustion right. This comes moist, and you should dry it just a little. It's not supposed to be easy, and if the tobacco is too dry it will lose some flavor.

The strength is maybe medium. The taste is medium. The nicotine is medium to high. I would always smoke this in smaller pipes and it was fine. I would recommend this to the person that likes other twist tobaccos or cigars. Somewhat recommended.
