The floral note you encounter upon lighting up isn’t strong, and dissipates a little as you go along, but never completely vanishes. The nutty, toasty, woody, earthy, lightly molasses sweet burley takes a little lead over the black Virginia, which offers some sugar, toast, a few drops of honey, a little grass and citrus. The toppings are hard to define, but I certainly get a sense of caramel and perhaps coconut, a light spray of Irish mist, a few drops of vanilla, and an essence of chocolate throughout the experience. They sublimate the tobaccos to a fair degree. The nic-hit is fairly mild. The strength is a shade past mild, while the taste level falls just short of mild to medium. No chance of bite or harshness. You may want to give it a light dry time. Burns cool and clean, and a tad slow with a smooth, slightly creamy, mostly consistent flavor from start to finish. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, but no dottle. Requires a few relights. Has a very pleasant, slightly lingering after taste. Can be an all day smoke.

If you own a Peterson system pipe, give this blend a 15% to 20% dry down and put this blend in it. Without the dry time, flavorless. Just SOMEWHAT dried you get all the beautiful flavors that Jim’s review so eloquently and accurately notes. Additionally - the texture of the smoke is not overly thick but appreciably velvety. It is a great combination of subtly dark grassy and subtly sweet. Dark burley not bright. The LJP black Virginia was my first love of a near-perfect blend and gives a good change of pace while staying in the neighborhood. Strength - seems to vary - but just stronger then the middle point of mild. Flavor develops subtly but consistently. This is a bottom-of-the-bowl smoke for sure. Oddly - came up as unremarkable in my savinelli prince pipe and cobs but perfect in the Peterson where the Peterson would sadly dull otherwise prominent Virginia or aromatic flavors. I suspect moderate aging rounds this out well. That’s the BVA base getting fuller, as I have noted in the straight black from LJP. If this blend hits you first as flavorless - be patient, dry it a bit and try some different pipes. I’m very glad I went out on a limb with this one.

A fine aromatic offering from Peretti - and absolutely gorgeous room note. My personal bent is to the English blends because I have yet to find an aromatic that can keep my interest from a flavor perspective. I was hoping this might be the exception, but alas, after about 1/4 bowl the flavor diminishes and leaves me wanting. If you are an aromatic fan I would definitely recommend you give this one a try.

This is good. It is not. Overwhelming easy going and smooth. This perks up middle of the bowl and stay let well. There is a good sweetness and some caramelly notes to this..it may be wrong but this blends terrific with other tobaccos instilling all its goodness to something else when added. Look for this One and enjoy- and hardly any bite- so don't puff too fast.

This is a very mellow, tasty sweet, low nicotine aromatic. It has a distinct and delicious rich vanilla smell in the bag. Burns nice with a sweet taste.Possible vanilla overtones. No tongue bite I notice. Vanilla/carmel room note.
I like it in the evenings because the nicotine level is low and consequently it doesn't keep me up with a nic-buzz. Very mild and relaxing. If you like vanilla this is the gourmet smoke for you.
