Peretti British Blend

(3.44)
One of our more full bodied blends, similar to many expensive English blends. This blend is so carefully constructed that its Perique and Latakia components compliment each other perfectly.
Notes: Peretti's "British." Blended first in 1922, this tobacco is the first commercially produced English mixture in the States.

british blend was my introduction to l.j. peretti tobaccos and the skills of their master blender, robert peretti. to say i am impressed is an understatement. this is a fabulous blend! british blend is made up entirely of latakia and perique tobaccos. the literature describing it says that the perique and latakia proportions are carefully constructed to compliment each other perfectly. sounds like advertising hype, but in this case it's true. there is a lovely lingering note of perique spiciness all the way through the bowl that compliments the latakia PERFECTLY. lighting and packing are very good, and it leaves almost no dottle. robert peretti is known as one of the finest master tobacco blenders that this country has ever produced and now i know why. four BIG stars!

Well I guess the secrets out on L. J. Pertti. Located in the oldest part of downtown Boston,I belive this establishment has been around since the Revoluntionary War. Having frequented this fine establishment since 1970, I've smoked quite a few of their blends and have come to the conclusion that that the Peretti Family is incapable of making a bad tobacco blend. British Blend is my all time favorite English type. Various types of Virginias comprise it's foundation with Cyprian Latakia and Perique added in an exquisite balanced manner to give this blend a unique flavor. Highly recommended.

This is a delicious and seriously integrated blend. The Latakia and Perique and Virginia and Orientals all merge. It’s a delightful smoke! The mouth taste is like perfectly cooked toast. On the English spectrum this is mild in flavor profile.

I’m used to and adore Lat forward English blends and seriously heavy Balkans but even so this is wonderful. None of the integrated elements shout for attention.

There are quite a number of excellent English and Balkan blends. This is less powerful than Peretti’s Tashkent or Omega. It’s an elevated Father Dempsey, a bit spicier than Westminster, and tad more interesting than Thomas’ Blend.

4 out of 4 stars.

After liking Pretti's Cuban Mixture so much, I decided to pick up a can of their British Blend at the Chicago Pipe Show. This is an excellent English blend, that is overlooked in the vast array of tobaccos today. Spicy Orientals, along with matured VA and a perfect balance of perique and latakia. I think I really like this blend because I do like the flaovr of perique. It burns cool with no tounge bite, and smokes down to a nice grey ash.

I find myself smoking this blend almost every day. While not a Westminister or Vintage Syrian, it's a great every day smoke. If your looking to replace Dunhill's Nightcap, which is not being sold in bulk again, this is a close match and less costly!

Not only is this an excellent blend, but I rank it at the top of LJP?s English mixtures. The base tastes mainly of bright and aged Viginias. There are also some quality Orientals, but they are not the focus. The star of this blend is the Latakia and Perique, which ?complement each other perfectly?. Thought the taste is full, no single component overwhelms. Simply put, the blend smokes cool and is rich in flavor. Its amazing young and only improves with age. Four full stars for Robert Perretti?s wonderful, traditional blend.
