Two Friends Celtic Mist

(2.30)
A base of the highest grades of cavendish, with just a bit of burley, is enhanced with wonderfully sweet Virginia tobaccos. A delightful tobacco flavor sets the stage, enhanced, not overwhelmed, by the addition of a little essence of Irish Mist. The room aroma is equally enchanting to those fortunate enough to be in the presence of the smoker.

All of the tobacco flavor is sublimated by the Irish Mist, which I found to be fairly smooth and a little creamy. The Virginia is grassy and citrus sweet,a nd forms the base of the blend. The burley is barely noticeable much of the time, but a hint of toasted nuts peeks through once in a while. The cavendishes are sweet with a little sugar and honey. Has a mild nic-hit, and won't bite. Burns fairly cool at a reasonable pace with a consistent flavor. Needs an average number of relights, and leaves very little moisture at the bottom. Very nice room note, and light after taste. An all day smoke if you so desire. A two and half star blend.

There's not a lot going on with this blend, to be honest.

I mean, I'm not much of an aromatic smoker but this one seems more bland than usual. There's a bit of that whiskey and honey top note but, rather than making the bowl more pleasant, it mostly just leads to more tongue bite. I'm used to smoking Virginias so slow sipping is second nature to me and I STILL got bit by this one.

Not horrible but certainly not something that's going to convert me to aromatics...

At first, I really detested this tobacco. From some reason, I thought this blend would be a good tobacco to break in a new pipe with, but I was surely mistaken. It burned hot and tasted pretty awful. Then I decided to switch to an old broken in Dr. Grabow that I had reserved for aromatics only. The tobacco was very different this time around. The flavoring was very subtle on the tongue. A little sweet paired with just a touch of that flavoring that I haven't quite been able to put into any words except 'irish mist'. It had just a bit of bite towards the tail end of the bowl, but I've learned that this comes with the territory. Regardless, this blend is a solid one, with, in my opinion, the right amount of sweet and aromatic, but was lacking in the taste of the tobacco. I don't make this a regular smoke, but once in a blue moon I get a craving for it. I don't really regret the purchase of a tin of this, but I don't think I'll be buying another anytime soon, either.

This one is hit or miss. Maybe I let this dry out a bit too much, but at first I thought this was great, then sometimes I would say merely good. All in all, not a bad smoke.

The Cavendish rules the roost and I tasted no burley or virginia. I did not detect a casing, the cavendish dominates making it hard to pick up on anything else. After reading the reviews here and there mixed reports, I have to wonder if this blend suffers from quality control in the consistancy department. If you really like Cavendish you may really like this blend. I'll pass on any more though.
