Friedman & Pease Winter's Tale
(3.67)
Winter's Tale is the first of our limited edition, seasonal tobaccos. It is a complex, long-aged dark mixture of Black Stoved and Red Virginias, rich, smoky Latakia, and spicy Louisiana Perique. It is the perfect company for a good book or a good friend and a roaring fire on a brisk Winter evening. Its rich smoke will warm the spirits, while its voice whispers promises of the contentment that can be found in a bowl of the finest pipe tobacco.

More similar to Mephisto (without the rhum flavoring) than to other latakia-strong GLPease offerings. Not bad, but a bit too delicate for my taste. If puffed very slowly, a very subdued and pleasant sweetness emerges. Similar but much better to the Butera Latakias and McClelland Anniversary. My tin was aged for 5 years, because I tried it in December 2003: BTW, I came to know that I smoked one of the only 250 tins made in 1998 by Greg!!!!! Good room aroma.
