Sutliff Tobacco Company Taste of Spring

(2.71)
It is near magic when the first warm days of spring bring to life winter’s hibernating buds. The bleak harshness of a seemingly endless winter has been replaced with a revival of life. This Aromatic Mixture of Sweet Fragrant Virginia and Burley is perfect for celebrating the arrival of spring.

Though very low on nicotine, the light floral, grassy, citrusy Virginia works well with the moderately earthy, nutty burley. There’s a vanilla background note from the black cavendish which at times, is sublimated by a mild honey topping. No chance of bite or harshness. Burns at a reasonable pace, gentle and smooth with a very cool, clean consistent flavor. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and needs an average number of relights. A pleasant all day work and play aromatic with a nice after taste and room note.

This is a nice, mellow burly and cavendish blend with some floral and honey top notes. This blend has cellard for close to a year since I purchased it and had just the right moisture content straight from the can. I'ts well suited for the smoker looking for a mild aro with a pleasant room note. No tongue bite and also a rather neutral nondescript flavor. Very mellow and probably a great choice for a smoker new to the pastime. Sweet smokes gents!
Pipe Used: Cobs and briars dedicated to aro's

Taste of Spring - a nice, mild mixture, wonderful tin note. A pleasant, but slightly boring smoke, though. Not for me, although I give it a 3. Worth trying if you like honey aromatics, although the honey is very subtle. I prefer Vanilla/Cavendish aromatics with McClelland's CORPS Vanilla Ice being the gold standard in that category.

Leaf: Black Cavendish, Burley, Virginia

Pipe Smoked In: Missouri Meerschaum, and other various briars

Tin Aroma: Honey

Taste: first light was very sweet, but tamed down after a few puffs. tasted of mild sweetness and honey

Room Note: The room note is sweet and pleasant. lightly floral and honey

Thoughts: This came as a sample to Austin Pipe Club from Sutliff. The ready rub was was drier than i expected from the tin scent. It lit easily enough right out of the can. I did get a little gurgle towards the last half of the bowl, but that seems normal for me and aromatics.

Recommend to: Anyone looking for a mild aromatic.

Pipe Used: various sized pipes

Age When Smoked: New

Purchased From: Sample
