Notes: It is very difficult to determine the exact time when tobacco was introduced in the valley of the semois. Though already signals its presence in our region in the 17th century and by 1850 some smokers cultivated for personal consumption it was not until 1855 that tobacco timidly began to be marketed by a former teacher Mr. J.PIERRET Alle sur Semois, he tested a tobacco which was a success both in performance and quality.
