McClelland No. 900 Refined Tennessee Ribbon
(2.70)
A mixture of Tennessee's finest Burley tobaccos with a small amount of Bright Virginia from North Carolina added for balance. These Burleys have been left on the stalk longer to develop their special richness; then, we season in the English manner with a subtle, sweet dressing to define character and top off the blend with a natural fruit essence. Rich and nutty in flavor and delicious to the bottom of the bowl without a hint of harshness.

Has a pouch note that seems to me to be butterscotch, but could be anything in that sweet caramelized spectrum, perhaps even bourbon. This flavour persists thru the actual smoke and this is definitely an aromatic.
My bag had some decidedly dusty, earthy aromas. I have no idea if this is the result of poor storage or is a 'natural' or intentional aspect of the tobacco. I do not find it pleasant.
It burns ok. It is a mild and sweet tobacco, I doubt this would bite much unless you went at it like a steam train. Definitely an improvement on most OTC aromatics, but I really would have liked to have tasted the underlying leaf more than the flavouring. Somewhere between one and two stars for me, but I'm rounding up because obviously there is still a viable market for gentle aromatic pipe tobaccos.

Unlike other reviewers, I found nothing in this blend that reminded me of Captain Black or 1Q. It did have a sour flavor that may have been maple mixed with straight burley (CB and 1Q are flavored with vanilla, not maple) and it didn't mesh well. I smoked several bowls of this and that cloying taste was a constant. In fact, it reared its head even when I mixed this with other things.
This blend smoked cool and easy and gave off a nice aroma. It appears to be comprised of quality component tobaccos. That's about all I can say on its behalf. I did not enjoy this one much and if you're looking for McClelland burleys, check out their Burley By The Slice or Pressed Burley for a more natural tobacco.

I purchased this blend based on the reviews at this website.
Room note is great, pouch note is great. The flavor while smoking is great. It has a full characteristic that lets you know you really are smoking a quality blend. This blend has one pitfall for me...
I am giving this 2 stars for now because it bites no matter how easy I sip. I have managed to keep the bite tolerable, but it is always there. It smokes very hot.
I have cellared this in mason jars and will give it a few months and then revisit. If it's better, I will edit my review accordingly.
