#805 Carolina Deluxe is the lighter-bodied companion to #800, based on an all orange and lemon Carolina and blended with a small amount of black cavendish. It exhibits complex, delicate flavors. It’s remarkably cool and smooth.

Okay, whatever this is, it is not an aromatic. But, on the other hand it certainly looks and smokes like an aromatic. It is not a crossover even though it contains only Va and black cav. Comes pretty damp with some form of topping. I don't think it is ppg because this tobacco tends to dry out in the pouch. The taste here is a sort of fleeting. You taste a somewhat fruity taste upon lighting but as the bowls burns down it becomes rather bland and bitey. The trick with this tobacco is to let it dry to nearly a crisp to rid it of the topping then mix it with a decent Virginia / Burley blend. Or better yet give it away to your fellow pipesmokers. Don't tell them what it is. Half of them will report to you how good it was and the other half will have tossed it out. It is just that kind of tobacco.

I ordered 2oz of this by mistake, so it was a bit of a mystery to me when I decided to open up the package and give this one a try.
Unfortunately my experience wasn't good, and this won't be a tobacco I buy again.
It's a plain virginia with a small amount of added cavendish and perhaps some mild flavorings. The virginia appears to be good quality, with a creaminess and good virginia flavor. But I found that it smoked hot, even when approached with a gentle sipping, and all the while I could feel that unless treated very gently indeed this one was going to develop into tongue bite and perhaps some throat burn. I didn't enjoy the smoking experience because all the while I was trying to avoid tongue bite, and that's not what I want when I have a smoke.
All in all, a rather plain boring smoke, some good virginia taste, but a hot smoke that I didn't enjoy.

Another of my trials of 'heat seasoned' VAs. The wide ribbons of brownish to jet black VAs are the result of a cavendish processing. The pouch and room aroma are fruity and very sweet. Although a cool, mild, effortless smoke, I didn't sense any natural tobacco taste. If you're an aromatic fan, you might enjoy this one but I still prefer my VA flakes.
