Mac Baren Burley London Blend
(3.04)
A very distinct tobacco. Made from white burley, well matured in wooden casks and pressed in broken flake form. A real smoking pleasure.
Notes: Introduced in 1965 and consists mainly of carefully selected burley tobaccos. Just a little Virginia has been added to give the blend a natural sweetness. You will notice the slight natural chocolate note, which is found in all good burley tobacco. The very special top flavor in combination with the tobaccos gives you a very distinct smoking pleasure.
Discontinued 2014. Re-released in 2020 and 2021 as limited editions.

This is a nice, nutty, raisiny, sweet burley blend. It has a nice aroma when smoked. It can burn as hot as gasoline soaked straw. However, if you let this dry out a bit, and follow the advice of some of the other reviewers who love MacBaren blends(pack carelessly, and smoke CAREFULLY), you will be rewarded with some exquisite burley flavor. For me, the flavor just is not worth the bite. This the ONLY burley that has really roasted me multiple times. After careful consideration, I cannot recommend this blend at all.
My favorite burley blend is still Wilke's Nut Brown Burley, as it tastes good and has flawless burning characteristics.

I'm not as high on this tobacco as everyone else here. Upon opening the tin The aroma was pleasant but not as rich as Amphora Original Blend. The burly itself was rather coarse and I often found myself rubbing it out a little for easier packing. I seemed to be spending more time relighting than enjoying this blend. My final complaint is that there seemed to be a bit of what I will describe as tongue zing rather than tongue bite. Not nearly as smooth as the Amphora version and that "zing" was really annoying.
