It burned hot as most BR products did in those days, but I thought it also had a little more flavor than some of the other BR products. The cognac taste was a little bitey if puffed fast, but had a decent mild flavor. Sometimes, I did get a taste of grass and citrus from the Virginia, and a hint of nuts from the burley. Had a mild nic-hit. Burned fast, but didn't bite as often as some of the other BK products. The flavor was mostly consistent. Needed few relights, and left little dampness in the bowl.

When I started smoking a pipe in the early 1970s, this was my go-to tobacco. Yeah, it was bitey, but it tasted good (compared to the Whiskey and Cherry) and the room note was good. I smoked cans and cans of it, then switched to Sir Walter Raleigh regular (big switch, I know) and lost track of it.
I have moved on to other blends, but I remember BR Cognac fondly.

I smoked this back in the 80s and the cognac was the best flavor out of all of them. I was mad when they stopped exporting this !
