I just tried this and enjoyed it. I smoked two bowls back to back and it didnt bite at all! I didnt even mind the flavoring. The only thing is that it got very, very goopy and wet a little past the half way point in the bowl. All I heard was gurgle and didnt finish it. If you dried it out, that may fix the problem. Again, I loved that fact that there was no bite and a pleasant room note. May not buy large amounts on a regular basis, but would never turn it away if offered. An EXCELLENT beginner tobacco.
New notes: Drying out does a great job on fixing the wetness, but mostly I have just smoked this in a filtered pipe and that takes care of the problem. This way I can smoke it all the way to the bottom. This is a very pleasant rotation if you like sweeter aromatics. Smells great! All my co-workers think so!

Smoking now:
I feel like I need to justify smoking a raspberry aromatic but I won’t. Lane makes good aromatics. The tin note is, well, black raspberry. Appears mostly dark cavendish.
Let dry a bit before packing and lighting. The taste is a decent mellow and sweet virgina burley cavendish blend. It’s very well balanced, sweet Virginia, nutty burley, sugary cavendish. The raspberry is subtle but adds a noticeable accent to the first half of the bowl to what would other wise be a decent va/bur/cav blend. Very “old school” type of tobacco blend I could see some guy in a mustache scooping out of a big glass jar at your tobacconist 100 years ago. The room note is pleasant and short lived. Co workers did not complain about the room note. No after taste, could bite if pushed like any aromatic however it did not bite me.
If I was around non smokers and wanted to smoke a pipe this would be something I would gravitate towards. One nonsmoking coworker called it aroma therapy. Has enough natural tobacco flavor for a non aromatic smoker to enjoy.

A mellow sweet Virginia Burley Cav blend with a pleasant fruit top note. I actually enjoyed the simplicity of this blend. Smoking the last of it this morning at work with coffee. Mild, mellow, with some tobacco flavor. 3 stars.

You can taste the raspberry flavour, it's not too strong, but definitely there. Smoked just fine for me. Not bad at all. Wasn't a hard-kicker in terms of nicotine strength.
Won't go into too much depth, this is more for me to remember what it was like.

I love this. Right in my wheelhouse.
From the packaging I had a good deep tobacco odor with the added black raspberry, very pleasing.
Had to let it dry for a bit. Lit well with minimal relights. No tongue bite for me. Very pleasant flavor with of course black cherry with the depth of tobacco. It did leave a wet mess at the bottom of my pipe that cleaned easily. After taste was very pleasent, lasting quite a long time.

Here we go. The most striking thing about this blend is that the tobacco isn't overwhelmed despite the heavy Black Raspberry flavoring/casing. Opening the tin, the tabacky is sticky but not goopy. Black Raspberry is not one of my favorite flavors, and I probably wouldn't have bought the tin if it weren't part of a deal that included a basket pipe and two tins of different Lane aromatics. Regardless, I smoked the tin and enjoyed it. The Black Raspberry was surprisingly lighter than expected. I can't say I noticed the burley but the toasty flavor burnt Cavendish was very nice. I can't say enough, it was a much less a heavy flavored -candy-dessert aromatic than expected. The Black raspberry flavor is NOT as heavy or pronounced as the vanilla in Lane BCA! Enjoyable.

This is one of the few aromatics that actually tastes like it smells. This would be a great introduction to a new pipe smoker. Great tobacco For Those looking for one that has the flavor of a dessert.

I wanted raspberry and that's what I got with this tobacco. The flavor is top notch and doesn't change or get funky the more you smoke it although I did not smoke it to the bottom of the bowl. There is something welcoming or familiar to this tobacco..reminds me of grandma's jam for breakfast on those weekends long ago. I will not smoke this one all day every day but I will have those binge smokes with this one and not feel any guilt at all!

I loved the Piperoom.com's Middle Earth Blend that had a hint of Raspberry so for the last 8 years or so I have been trying to recreate it. I think I have finally gotten to the point where I am pleased with my own blending. I took two ounces of Uhles Black Stoker, two ounces of Prince Albert and a pinch of Lanes Black Raspberry and to my taste buds it is very close. By itself Black Raspberry is a bit overwhelming but added as a pinch to a chocolate or burley blend it adds that little something, like a cherry on top of a Sundae. Living in Las Vegas I can smoke just about anywhere, literally, and especially in the casino's the women just swoon over BR's aroma... Very versatile, add chocolate and you have a Chocolate Covered Raspberry, add vanilla and burley and you have a Black Raspberry Cobbler... Try mixing this stuff, it's really good!

Not bad. Burns well, tastes great, got a free sample.
The tobacco flavors come out more 2/3 of the way through the bowl, but even then it's pretty mild. The roomnote is pleasant-- like brewing beer while burning a blackberry candle. The blackberry flavor is delicious.
Cool smoke, no bite, and pretty dry (but I am smoking in a filtered Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipe)
Overall-- not one I'll smoke all the time, but a bowl here and there will be heartily welcomed.

I have smoked a few bowls of this blend straight and have to say it is one of the best aromatics I have tried. (It will bite if your a heavy puffer, but I have found few aromatics that won't.)
It stays lit very well for a tobacco of this genre (less "goopy" than most). It is not strong in the nicotine department, but if you have a sweet tooth from time to time it will definitely hit the spot.
The best thing about Black Raspberry is the fun you can have blending with it. A little of this mixed with one of the "Frogs", or about half and half with "King Charles" will give you a bowl full of suprises and please the noses of most those around you.
