Watch City Cigar Flake #558
(3.70)
558 is a decadent "Crumble Flake" of three different Virginias and perique. A rich matured Virginia, a deep, dark stoved Virginia and the highest grade of bright Virginia is used as a backdrop for a heavy dose of perique. Rich and satisfying with a subtle natural sweetness.
Notes: Blender's note- Some well meaning fellow edited the original description of this blend to say it contains Kentucky fire cured. This blend absolutely does NOT contain even a trace of Kentucky or fire cured of any form. This is a blend of Virginias and perique only.

Flake #558
558 is a Virginia/Perique blend. It is competent but not stand out offering. There is some stoved VA which brings some natural sweetness to the primarily predominant Virginias.
The Perique is very mild. Slightly more spice than raisin or plum. The sour I usually experience with a solid VaPer is absent.
The tobaccos feel ‘dusty’ to my palate. Less focused. There is nothing wrong with #558 but nothing stellar. By comparison this blend isn’t as tasty as Orlik Golden Sliced or Peretti’s No. 8 Sliced and I consider those to be middle quality. 558 is not as Perique forward as Escudo, Chenet’s Cake, Penny Farthing, or Windjammer and not as good as say Haddo’s Delight.
I’d give it 2 out if 4 stars.
