Drew Estate Heirloom Cherry
(2.31)
We could've called it Grandmas Cherry Pie or something clever, but well let the tobacco do the talking on this one. Mild, Aromatic with a wonderful cherry flavor that lasts throughout your bowl. Never bites.
Notes: 2013 IPCPR release.

This was supposed to be my first cherry blend but it was not that good. I was expecting a black cherry, or something of the sort. What I got was a cherry flavoring akin to those watered down supermarket popsicles mom used to buy, that would stay in the freezer until they got freezer burn. I shouldn't be working this hard to get the taste of cherry out of a "cherry" blend.

The aroma of this is excellent. Cherry pastry like in the description. It burns very well but can get a bit hot if you aren't careful. Flavor comes and goes but pleasant all the way. A little on the light side; don't puff too hard or you will burn your tongue. You have to adapt to it.

My experience with this blend seems to be a bit different from others. I actually initially found the tin note to be a bit off putting. Almost cough syrup like. It's definitely a cherry aroma, but not like a cherry pie.
In any case, smoking this blend is very pleasant. Packs easy burns well and I experienced no bite even with my moderately fast puffing pace. The cherry flavor is front and center throughout the smoke, pushing the natural tobacco flavors into the background. That will mean this blend isn't for everyone, but if cherry taste is what you want, this blend will give it to you. 3 stars for people who want cherries, 2-2.5 stars for the rest.

I decided to give this a try after reading the reviews even though they were low. I decided that this might be something to try based on Drew Estates quality cigars and I'm glad I did. It did not disappoint even though the smoke is very mild and at initial light up is really the only time you get that waft of cherry flavor.
I still say that it is a good consistent smoke if just for the quality of tobacco that is used. I am going to go out on a limb here and give it three stars just because of my positive experience. It was my first time trying Drew estate pipe tobacco and I will definitely try their other blends.
Update: one week later I think after this has been opened for the past week I have noticed the flavor come to the front a little more. It is still a very mild, enjoyable smoke and after further drying may even be better than now.

Greeted by wonderful mixture of cherry and nutty notes when opened. I found this blend tastes better when its packed very tight in the bowl and smoked slowly. The flavor will last till the end and there is no bite. However if your an excessive puffer all you'll get is bite and burn. Of course everyone has their own repertoire with a pipe. But trust me on this one..... just let the flame of your match barely touch the tobacco, puff slowly and gently... and you have a very enjoyable smoke.

I found this blend disappointing. Opened the tin and was greeted with a strong cherry smell. Unfortunately, the smell did not translate to the smoke. No real flavor. Not much to say at all about the smoking experience. It stayed lit, but just didn't taste like much of anything. I will put it away and revisit in the future, but right now, I cannot recommend this tobacco.
