HU Tobacco Indaba

(3.73)
Indaba is a blend which stands for its own. Medium-strong ready rubbed, as well as dark fired Virginias, enhanced by some Kentucky for an earthy foundation, contribute to a distinctive taste experience. Sweet and spicy, along with a creamy texture makes this blend a unique treat apart from the everyday!
Notes: Hans Wiedemann has stated that the Indaba has a very mild caramel flavouring to it. (They changed the name of the series from "Foundation by Musicó" to "African Line")

A very high quality rubbed out tobacco of mostly medium brown colour with a very slight aromatic touch that tastes a little like caramel, Bailey's Irish Cream and maybe coconut. It should appeal to those who like Danish mixtures but also appreciate more tobacco and less casing flavour. An excellent tobacco, enjoy!

I must differ somewhat with the previous reviews. This has a spicy taste that sets it apart from most virginia based tobaccos. In my mind this puts it on the medium ++ side of strength and taste level, If you are thinking nicotine for strength then it has no hit for me there at all. But the taste has a special quality that certainly separates it from the run of the mill virginia blends. I found it to be a very enjoyable smoke with a quality that virginia smokers will find unusual but positive. I also found it arrived more like a broken flake than finely rubbed out. Quite a satisfying blend.

This is a great blend. I really enjoyed my time with this one. Because of the components of this blend, it draws an inescapable comparison to Irish Flake in my mind. Irish Flake is in my top two tobaccos and after trying this, It still is.

I believe IF has some topping to it that must give it that edge in my mind. I don't think Indaba has any such topping to it. It is a hard call between three and four stars on this one, but I can't say I highly recommend a blend when I would recommend another similar blend over it. Also, If someone were to tell me they were placing an order from HU and wanted me to recommend three blends, this one would not get a recommendation. I would suggest Fayyum Kake, Nashville County and Director's Cut.

So that is how I arrived at three stars. There are several people I know who will put this at four stars all day. It is good.
