Samuel Gawith 2013
(3.45)
For this 2013 Limited Edition Pipe Tobacco, Samuel Gawith have chosen a specially selected blend of Virginia tobaccos blended together with some sweet black cavendish and some good quality burley tobacco with a Vanilla Creme flavour. To compliment the already smooth characteristic of this blend a soupcon of almond essence has been added.
The result is a very smooth, medium strength tobacco with a good volume of smoke and a delightful room note.
Limited Edition run of only 15,000 tins world wide.
Notes: A limited-edition blend of Virginias, sweet black Cavendish, a touch of Burley, a little vanilla creme aromatic, and a light touch of almond essence.

I'm always slightly cautious about buying 100g tins just in case I end up buying a bad tobacco. However, I decided to take the plunge with this as it had been a while since I had an SG and had something of a yearning for a limited edition one, so I took the plunge.
Upon receipt, I was very impressed with the tin, it has a certain robustness and compactness that I found striking while being nicely and attractively reserved in it's design. Almost seems to be worth the price of the tobacco alone. Things continue to look good as I removed the lid as a variety of colours in the tobacco and the sweet scent of vanilla with perhaps a hint of almond greeted my senses. The packing is easy, not a surprise given the fine cut and the lighting is no problem either - congrats to SG on this. The smoke itself continues in a similar vein delivering that good mild flavour of sweet vanilla with hints of almond. This flavour is consistent throughout both the bowl and the tin. Having had issues with this the last time I bought a 100g tin of an aromatic, I was pleasantly impressed by this. The room note, too, is a good one.
In summary, this is a good, mildly flavoured blend that still manages to satisfy very well. The only issue I have is that it's a little too nice, I have trouble resisting loading another bowl the moment I've finished. With such a big tin, though, that's not really a problem. It's a shame that it's such a limited run, otherwise it might be one to keep in my rotation. So if you're thinking of giving it a go, it's probably worth a getting a tin before it becomes unavailable for good.
