Borkum Riff Mixture with Cherry Cavendish

(2.21)
The cherry cavendish recipe consists of 50% black cavendish from Africa and the Philippines mixed with 50% Virginia from Brazil, Argentina and India. On top of that sweet cherry taste is added.

A pretty decent aromatic. As a new pipe smoker, I was recommended aromatics for starters, as usual. And this is one of the first I have ever tried. At the time, I was having trouble smoking this as it has a relatively strong smoke and prone to go out, thus the easy to get a tongue bite. But as soon as I learned how to properly pack and smoke it, this became one of my favorite aromatics. The reason being, this is nicely blended and the aroma is not very artificial. When you open the pack it does not smell like perfume but natural cherry flavors. Compared to other cherry blends, I definitely prefer this one. Will definitely buy again.

I rather liked this blend. Most Cavendish based aromatics taste like hot air to me and cause me to start over puffing for something that never comes, resulting in a nasty bite. I believe the addition of the Kentucky ameliorates this tendency for me adding body to this blend while not overtaking it. To me it is a great balance and should be done with more cavendish aromatics.

I was able to maintain a nice cadence with this and it was quite enjoyable. My pouch was 6 and a half years old and I do believe some of the topping may have flashed based on what other reviewers have said about the topping being the primary flavor. While I certainly tasted Cherry, it was subdued. With that said, the underlying leaf was never screaming out.

This is not the greatest cherry aromatic I have ever tasted, but it was enjoyable to my palate. I enjoyed smoking this one on the golf course as it was easy smoking and did nothing to distract me from my game or the respective socializing that comes with it. It is also mild enough to ensure several bowls while doing the same.

Three stars.

Finally found a place that sells this blend. Bought it and it's light on cherry sent. Big on cherry taste! Burns easy smoke it slow loses flavor around end. Will i buy it again? Yes because it's hard to find a cherry tobacco that doesn't taste like chemicals. This is one that got it right.
