Hearth & Home
Fusilier’s Ration
It’s always interesting when vendors try to recreate discontinued blends. Of course all blenders keep their blend ingredients percentages a trade secret. And many use casings or toppings to balance Ph without admitting they do so.
This is a rough, medium English with little to help it stand out from a crowded field. It has a gritty, sandy texture. More the burnt side of campfire with the residual smell after water has been sprayed on top.
The reality is that there are a LOT of extraordinary English/Balkan blends today (2024). I’d argue thst the current Bengal Slices is excellent as is Gaslight, Quiet Nights, Nightcap, Tashkent, Balkan Supreme and Balkan Sasieni and others. The Hearth & Home Magnum Opus is extraordinary in comparison.
If this blend is your Zen then that’s great. Fusilier’s Ration is competent but not inspired. It’s a good product though so I’ll give it 2.5 stars rounded up.

A top blend to me. Similar in ways to SPC Mississippi River, but with a tamer bright Virginia presence and a bit more latakia and orientals. Rich, sweet, and multidimensional.
