Fireside Extra Mild High Class Smoking Tobacco. Danish Blend. Manufactured from finest matured tobaccos by Mac Baren's tobacco factories, Svendborg, Denmark.
Notes: Blended by Mac Baren in the early 80s for their distributor Fireside, and seems to have been a short-lived product. There was also an aromatic produced, which I have heard tasted very similar. This is very much like Burley London Blend, with perhaps a bit more Virginia. The 7 ounce tin came with a non-sealing screw top and a sealed plastic bag inside, but has held up well and is quite smokeable. It is not as good as the aged roll cakes, and though not technically branded Mac Baren but Fireside, it is as much a Mac Baren as any other Mac Baren, and a rare curiosity to fans of the brand.

Here's a long gone classic that has been out of production for eons; Mac Baren's Fireside in factory sealed 7 oz tins from the 1980's that still appear in mint condition. Blended by Mac Baren in the early 80's for their then distributor Fireside, and was a short-lived product. Mac Baren used the same leaf they used for their famous (and now out of production), Burley London Blend, and then added some cask aged Virginia for a presentation that was sensational. The cool and nutty taste of the Burley was the main player, but the mellow Virginia leaf added body and strength to the overall presentation. It has been a long time since I loaded a bowl of this one in my pipe but I still remember the wonder taste presentation.
