Newminster No. 1 All Natural
(2.75)
A straight cut Cavendish blend consisting of quality mild flue-cured Virginia tobaccos from South America. The natural mildness and a light, sweet aroma is what makes this blend exceptional. According to Villiger, this one blends quite well with Newminster No. 9R Rich Vanilla.

This is a very pleasant mild Dutch cavendish. It presents as a mostly broken up pressed tobacco about like a slightly rubbed out Sail Yellow in consistency perhaps. The pouch note is sweet with maybe a little spice. Smoked, it is slightly sweet but does not taste of fruit or honey. The tobacco flavor is good but not very exciting. It burned very cool for me, and I found it satisfying although a little one dimensional. The tobacco flavor is subtle and not "in your face." The room note is pleasant.
Think of this as a Dutch cavendish equivalent of Sir Walter Raleigh. It is good and not especially challenging. I find it a great smoke for the car or the office. It is a tremendous value at $20 and some change per pound at P&C.
This one is a 3.5 on the scale. I liked it enough to buy a pound. Don't buy this expecting much "wow." It is a solid and reliable all-day smoke that suits me well. It is easy to recommend.

Found this at a local tobacconist. Purchased it based on the “all natural” description, the smell (slightly sweet but not at all sugary), and the look (thick ready rubbed strands with some small pieces of flake). I definitely taste the Va and I agree with others that there seems to be some burley. I thought I tasted some oriental as well but that is not listed (neither is burley). At the store, the only description was “all natural tobacco.”
I’ve been smoking a lot of C&D blends lately and growing weary of their strength and lack of sweetness so this was a welcomed return to the kind of the lightly cased tobaccos I used to smoke when I first left aromatics.
In short, everything about this blend reminds me of a tin of MacBaren- the look, cut, smell, burn, and flavor. I like it and will keep it around.

Mostly mid brown short ribbon tobaccos. Bag note is sweet with a hint of what I think is anisette. My bag came with a perfect moisture level.
Bought this looking for a replacement 'beater' tobacco now that PS Natural Dutch Cavendish has been discontinued. This is, as other reviewers have noted, a similar sort of tobacco. It has more top end than NDC and the fragrance is more pronounced. It is also a bit stronger.
A good everyday tobacco. It won't win any beauty contests but is a pleasant, no nonsense smoke at a reasonable price.
