A spicy powerhouse of a tobacco, made from 30% Perique with plenty of nutty/dry Burley & a helping of sweetned Virginias. Its starts off sweet and smooth but soon becomes a dry & spicy beast.

I tried this blend in my search for the perfect Perique-heavy blend. Unfortunately, El Picante Americana is not it. For my palate, this is a pleasant but unremarkable smoke, although the maple topping does create some interest and sweetness.
While there is nothing really wrong with this blend, and I would happily smoke it if I received it as a gift, I will not be purchasing any more and as such can't in good conscience give it a 3 star rating. My tastes tend towards the more full-flavoured blends, and it's quite possible that this tobacco is a bit too nuanced for me to really enjoy.
Somewhat recommended, as the tobacco is of obviously high-quality, though not a blend I could see myself craving.
