Esoterica Tobacciana Margate

(3.31)
A classic English mixture done in the "old style" of many of the fine tobaccos that have now disappeared from the market place. Choice Orientals, matured Virginias, and generous quantities of premium Cyprian latakia keynote this rich, full bodied blend. A well balanced, robust and eminently satisfying smoke.

This is a mostly dark brown shag blend with some lighter strands densely packed together. It takes a little effort to separate the shag since it is quite moist and needs to dry out, this is problematic while in clumps. This packs and burns very well once untangled. The latakia, orientals and virginias play nicely with each other. The virginias are not so much sweet but lend a nice dark nutty tone. This is a good medium English that should be applauded for its balance and nice volume of smoke (something I must have in a blend). There are other blends of this kind I like more, but this was a good one.

While the blender's description adquately describes what goes into Margate, I am just unimpressed with it. For me, it did not even remind me of any of those blends no longer in production. I don't find it full bodied at all, and not at all satifying. For whatever it's worth, my default Balkan Blend is GLPease' Kensington.

This was a disappointmnet from this otherwise fine blender.
