Esoterica Tobacciana Margate
(3.31)
A classic English mixture done in the "old style" of many of the fine tobaccos that have now disappeared from the market place. Choice Orientals, matured Virginias, and generous quantities of premium Cyprian latakia keynote this rich, full bodied blend. A well balanced, robust and eminently satisfying smoke.

Perhaps it's just me, but I had a bad experience with this particular blend. This was the first full English blend I ever smoked...I was entirely unprepared! The first time, I smoked it on an empty stomach and a few cups of coffee: big mistake! I'll leave the rest to your imagination!
It is quite strong, packs a hell of kick, and is quite tasty: once you get used to it.
A bit too expensive for my taste, though: Dunhill crafts an equally superb product for much less money.

Fresh from the tin Latakia just overpowers the other Orientals. With a long, long, long drying time the other tobaccos finally show up and the smoke becomes more complex in taste. The finish is dominated by the Lat. To each his own, and I won't be owning more of this.

i guess with this one i go against the grain, i did not like it it all. i found the flavor to be latakia overkill without much more going for it. since my son is a pipe smoker as well (he thought it was fair but not great) i had ample opportunity to catch the room note, it was bad! the smell of this one sticks in your clothes and follows you around everywhere you go. about the only way to smoke this is in the evenings just before shower and to bed, just remember to shower before going to bed or your spouse may run you off. i rate this "don't bother".

Esoterica Tobacciana's Margate, by all previous accounts, should have been splendid. Like this review, affirmatively uncharacteristic of my writing, it was bland and boring. And, with the 8oz bag that I bought, I have decidedly too much of it left. It might be a good fertilizer (and that is where is will probably end up).

Margate is a delicious blend! It was a great deal of the "white stuff" and an incredibly wonderful smell in the tin.
Most smokers seem to really enjoy the room note, most non-smokers seem largely indifferent or tend to dislike it (latakia).
It smokes very well, and is of suberb quality. I would describe the flavor of Margate as being somewhat musty, fairly rich, and full. The Virginias (?) domainte and the fine latakia plays a supporting role. It has a good backbone and smooth, very pretty "highs" kept from soaring away (like Balkan Sasieni, for example) by the weight of the latakia.
This is becoming one of my favorite tobaccos, it's delicious.
