HU Tobacco Joschi's Oriental Sunrise

(3.36)
Joschi’s Oriental Sunrise. Our Joschi is a calm but jovial type. He doesn‘t much like to raise attention to his person, but he‘s always present. Joschi prefers natural or slightly aromatized tobaccos. This classic oriental blend is just after his fancy. A creamy Virginia broken flake forms the basis. It has been mixed with equal parts of Louisiana perique, Kentucky burley and Samson Oriental, which breathe a whole new life into the Virginia. The flavored tobaccos, especially the very expressive Samson Oriental, make for a wonderfully uncomplicated and yet interesting blend which develops its unique taste without the use of additional flavorings. This is how good tobacco can taste on its own. A blend for the calm and quiet bon vivant as pleasure needs no words.

The Orientals are woody, earthy, a little floral and spicy, dry, herbal, buttery sweet and slightly sour, and are prominent, though this is not an Oriental-bomb as this blend is well balanced. The Kentucky burley has a slight pistachio flavor and light, light sweetness with a very slight earthiness and wood to it. It's as light a Kentucky burley flavor as can be and yet, it compliments the other flavors nicely in the background. The perique is very mildly spicy with some raisins, plums and figs, and plays almost at the same level as the burley does. The grassy, woody, earthy, tart and tangy citrusy, lightly tangy dark fruity Virginia sets the base for the other ingredients. Has a slightly more than a mild nic-hit. The strength is just short of the center of mild to medium, while the taste is a step past that mark. Won't bite or get harsh. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace with a fairly consistent taste. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Has a pleasant, lightly lingering after taste and slightly stronger room note. An all day, creamy smoke that especially goes well with tea and coffee. I suggest a big bowl to get the nuance of the varying flavors.

Personal allday favourite #1 by this blender. Solid smoke, nice broken flake, perique just enough to spice up not to be unbearable. Burns cool throught the bowl, tones of dry fruit, bit of caramel, subtle sourness, little vanilla-like taste. Orientals give their special aroma to the blend, throught the smoke nice overall, not too heavy, not too light. I can smoke a bowl through any time of the day, moring muge, after lunch, evening bowl with pleasure.

Joschi's Oriental Sunrise is a fitting tribute to the blender's friend Joschi. The blend is subtle, but interesting just like its namesake. The Virginias and Samson Orientals provide an exquisite floral note that is underlined by a dash of spicy perique, with a lingering earthiness as an afternote. A pleasurable and versatile blend for all occasions.

3.5/4 - try this blend with a German pilsner like Radeberger, it's a match made in heaven.

The Joschi`s Oriental Sunrise is a very nice, mild and naturally blend. The sweet virginias and the oriental leaf are well balanced. So, the Joschi is a complex blend without tounge bite. The burley and the kentucky tobaccos are only in the background and gives this blend a nice body. I like this tobacco during the whole day because this blend needs no attention. Maybe in the evening or for a concentrating smoke, the Joschi`s is for me a bit too light. But this blend is recommended for smokers who like naturally tobacco without a high nicotin level. A very well made tobacco!

Joschi`s Oriental Sunrise is a classical orient blend with burley and perique. It`s a very uncomplicated blend with a beautifull sweet spice. The tobacco burns very well and you need no attention. It`s not a great blend for the evening. It`s a nice blend for the whole day.Not too strong, with a subtle flavour of pure tobacco.
