Gauntleys Of Nottingham Nottingham Blend

(3.20)
A slight twist on the typical Scottish mixture. A slight topping of Cinnamon & Nutmeg on the black cavendish, with a good helping of cigar leaf.
Notes: Handblended instore.

Gauntleys-Nottingham Blend.

The pouches contents appear to be so busy, there's pretty much every size, shape, colour of leaf imaginable! Some small flecks of dark Cavendish all the way to some larger 'sheets' of cigar leaf.

The aroma from the blend imminently suggests the nutmeg, it's not exactly an aromatic smell but it's definitely present.

When I first light my pipe the biggest flavour I get is cigar leaf. It takes a little while for any other nuances to break through. The nutmeg starts to come through after about ten minutes and gives the flavour a great new dynamic. The cinnamon adds a good depth of taste to the smoke, lively and spicy and a superb 'zing'! This would make a great morning smoke!

Throughout the smoke the cigar leaf remains the stronger of the tobacco tastes. It doesn't subside and allow any of the others have centre stage but holds the leadership all the way with tenacity.

The amount of nicotine falls above medium for me. Not overly strong but very easy to identify.

The room note is a little too much for me, an outdoor morning smoke for the summer maybe?

This is a very full tasting blend. It holds a many positive qualities with one or two negative ones. This is a decent enough blend but sadly I don't get along too well with it.

Somewhat recommended.
