Late Night … A coarsely rubbed out flake, medium brown in color with some yellow and dark strands here and there. Judging by the small amount of dark colors, I'd say this blend contains only a small amount of black Cavendish. Tin (50g) aroma is of mostly tobacco, and something else, typical of tobaccos from Denmark.

The moisture content is right on for me, I like my tobacco a bit dry. So I just folder the longer strands and stuffed the bowl, with no additional rub out. Light up is sure and quick, kind of special, for a flake tobacco. Once underway, there is plenty of tasty smoke, more than many Virginias I've tried. Overall mild, dry and completely bite free, with a flavor that reminds me of Sail Yellow (also Danish), only smoother, and a bit higher in nicotine, A tad too mild for my every day smoke but never the less, real nice. I'd say there is probably at least some burley in this mixture, but subdued, with the typical flavor of Danish Virginias being most evident. Overall the best word to describe this blend is “gentle” but still tasty and flavorful, you can mindlessly smoke bowl after bowl, fast or slow and still it stays friendly. I can see this stuff becoming very popular over time, and as of this writhing, a good $$ value. So if this sounds like your kind of smoke, give it a try. 3 stars My personal rating 4/5

Really nice Va with an ever so mild sweetness that peeks through. I didn't rub out or dry out before smoking; just folded and stuffed like a regular ready rubbed.

It burned wonderfully in the bowl providing a solid Virginia experience. The flavors of whiskey or honey are so far in the background that I would not buy it based on description alone, not that its misleading, just that it is a subtle presence.

Overall a nice change of pace from my some what strict English main course followed by mellow aromatic diet.

A fantastic smoke and one of my favorite aromatic blends. This is basically a fine Virginia flake with some light flavoring to make it an aromatic. In other words, this is a tobacco lover's aromatic. When you open the tin you immediately see the nice chunks of flake in a bed of broken flake. The Virginia tabacky and Cavendish are evident. The Virginias give the smoke a smooth tobacco taste base with the sweet Cavendish and whiskey on top. Nice sweet honey subtly throughout. I like to smoke this now and then so a tin lasted a year in my rotation. Also, I finished the tin in May 2020 but the distration of the Covid pandemic held up me posting this review. I really enjoyed this blend.

This blend is okay for the average smoker. The room note is average to any regular blend i really didnt find any irish whiskey taste or anything that was advertised the nicotine levels did feel a little high however this wasn't a problem at all for me. Also there is a hit of honey in there that i wasn't expecting. All three of these blends smoke completely differently and i would recommend all three they are definitely a great experience for different reasons the Early Day, Mid Day, and Late Night all were worth the price and a try.

Summary: A sweet but balanced honeyed Virginia blend.

Being a fan of "Royal Yacht," it was exciting for me to try this tobacco along similar lines. The topping seems very much the same, a warm honey flavor infused with alcohol, and the Virginias are similar, the type of grainy sweetness that like a good beer is enhanced by the contrast not the overuse. Most Virginia blends seem like breakfast cereals, a heavily refined grain with a giant lump of sugar on top of it, but both "Royal Yacht" and "Late Night" taste most like chewing on a stalk of dry grass at the end of summer, with a faint sweetness present and then peeking through in greater intensity from moment to moment. The Cavendish feels like it could have been better as a mix of white and dark Burley, since Cavendish creates a little hook of a roast syrupy flavor that is a bit autumnal and contrasts the boisterous vigor and freshness of the Virginias. On the whole, this is a good blend that one could smoke all day and enjoy, if able to taste subtleties and contrasts instead of massive blasts of sugar, but it probably went nowhere because it does not have a quirk to make it stand out, and as a mild bodied blend, it does not provide what those who like subtle, intense, and powerful English blends desire. Still I enjoy this as a cousin to the venerable "Royal Yacht" and am sorry that it is out of production.

I think I'm getting tired of aromatics. I smoked a tin of Late Night a year ago and really liked it. Yet recently breaking open a tin from the same batch, it didn't yield the same pleasure. I don't believe the blend changed (though the tin napped for about an extra year), so I must have. I also found it bitier than the first time. Even taking Late Night slow, it wanted to nibble away at my tongue. Maybe you know the feeling... the bowl is nice and cool, not being smoked too hot, but the smoke nonetheless feels hot on the tongue. It's a chemical thing but was less of a problem a year ago, interestingly.

The taste is fine. I don't really notice the whiskey, but the honey is very present. I have another honeyed aromatic that also wants to gnaw at my tongue, so I suspect the culprit is the honey flavoring. No more of those for me! I'll finish the tin, but not joyfully, although dedicated aro smokers probably would love it. In fact, I'll probably use it in a mix, which is what I routinely do with such blends. I mean, it is good tobacco, after all. I have some Gordon Pym I'm head-scratching over and am wondering how they would marry up. Yum.

This was my first tinned tobacco (generally stick to bulk and the occasional pouch) and it's been in rotation on a regular basis since. It's just flat-out nice, even-smoking, pleasant blend.

I don't usually get a whole lot of the whiskey flavoring, honestly. For me, it was bright Virginia rounded out just a bit with dark Cavendish to create a really balanced blend.

When I've finished laying siege to the makers of Presbyterian, I'm leading my forces straight to Villiger. These monstrous, unwashed heathen have created an aromatic so foul and dark that light cannot escape from the tin.

The burn of tongue bite was so bad from this tobacco that I momentarily thought it was capable of self ignition. The room note became so pungent that I had to wipe my smoking chair with a vinegar solution & let it air dry in the garage for several days. I am aware that tongue bite is a matter of chemistry, and that room note is a matter of preference. That being said, the casing & flavoring on this mixture merely enhances the reaction. My first few bowls out of this tin gave me an unfavorable impression, but I try to finish at least the tin before drawing my full conclusions. When SHE-WHO-MUST-BE-OBEYED, complains of a burning sensation in her nostrils after only a momentary whiff drifted off the back porch...

Heads must roll for this ... the queen has spoken.

Previous reviews seem to capture this blend very well. No prep work necessary. I took this straight out of the tin and found it broken up enough to pack immediately and the moisture level to my liking. Lit well, and had I spent more time packing it properly it would have better stayed lit for me, yet I did set it down a time or two as I was focussed on some writing. Started out a little "green" but like most virginia based blends, developed a more "woody" flavor as it got through the bowl, and the cavendish flavors really began to emerge partially through this development and continued to play a major role to the end. Great taste. Very pleasant room note - which I think deserves a little more credit. Like others have said, while this blend might not blow anyone's mind - its not complicated despite its description, it's a solid blend that deserves a spot somewhere in your regular rotation. I'll go back for more of this for sure.
