Torben Dansk Blue Note
(2.71)
Mild, golden Virginias, that possesses a naturally high sweetness, are mixed with a mild black cavendish. A fresh flavor of exotic fruits and a touch of bourbon vanilla is added to make this an extraordinarily mild blend.
Notes: Bourbon Vanilla is a variety of the vanilla plant. There is no bourbon (alcohol) in this blend.

With all the hype surrounding this tobacco, I had to give it a shot. Upon opening, I found it to have a wonderful aromatic smell. The tobacco itself was as dry as the sahara desert and burned even hotter. No flavor at all, just scorching hot air. As far as the incredible room note it is supposed to have, I could not smell anything. Dry, tasteless, tongue biting, no thank you. If you like smoking vanilla scented candles, you will love this tobacco. If you want something with a little substance, go pick up some Frog Morton instead.

I really hoped this was "the one", it smells so amazing in the tin & the room note is absolutely phenomenal. I tried this over a year ago for the first time, and couldn't smoke for a week while my tongue healed from the burn. After trying a couple more times with similar results, I decided to let my tin sit for a while before trying again. Fast-forward to about 14 months later, and this stuff still burns the ever loving snot out of my tongue. Know what's worse? The taste isn't there for me, either. Flaming tongue for a smoke that I find tremendously unsatisfying. I'll keep what's left of this tin, maybe another couple years will mellow it out.

I liked everything about Blue Note - the name, the tin design, aroma, the nice golden colored tobacco - except actually smoking it.
Blue Note is a cigar store jar aromatic dressed in a nice tin. The tins cost about $8. I have had a dozen aromatics that were better in every way in the $3 range.
Blue Note has a strong and sweet tin aroma that does not hold up when smoking. After taking in the tin aroma, one expects a number or flavors to be involved but only vanilla shows up.It starts out sweet but completely bland. It loses the sweetness and then it is just bland. It does not burn well. Even the aroma is weak and boring.
I do not smoke many aromatics, but if I were going to smoke an inferior blend, I would choose one whose price reflects its quality, something like 1Q.

This tobacco bites, literally. It burns very hot and wet while causing extreme tongue-bite, even after i tried drying it out and in a different pipe. Any pros are outweighed by the fact that Blue Note is just not smokeable.

Blue Note is one of the many perfect aromatics to keep on hand *if* your only concern is room note.
It has a berry like taste and aroma but is rather moist for a tinned product and will leave quite a bite for most.
There are far better aromatics available for the smoker who wants the qualities of a more enjoyable tobacco without the bite.

I enjoy most types of tobacco but this one completely struck out with me. What is unusual is that it is very similar to another Dan blend, Sweet Vanilla Honeydew, which I love. From my viewpoint, they took Honeydew and started adding "stuff" in a misguided effort to improve it. In this case, that stuff took the form of a fruit topping that doesn't at all gibe with the vanilla. Despite the tobacco being first rate leaf, it has simply been ruined by the blender's exhuberance. I mailed my tin off to a fellow ASP member who could more properly appreciate it.

Well it sure did smell good in the tin!It also smelled good to those around me!My pipe sure smelled like it for a Long,Long time after smoking it!Just a bland tasting aromatic tobacco here.Heavily cased with something that resembled fresh fruit.(if your gonna try it smoke it in a practice or tester pipe unless you want it with you forever) If you do'nt like your candy in a pipe bowl steer way clear!..Preppypipe ******Update Sept. 1st "04"***** I gave this blend one more try as I needed an aromatic to smoke in a social situation and I had a tin of this collecting dust in my tobacco cellar aging for a few years. Well...It still sucks! I did'nt really imagine the flavor would have impoved, and I was right. How very, very bland!....

I purchased a tin of Blue Note on a whim; mostly because I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about. I am not a fan of aromatic tobaccos in general, and this one is no different.
Upon opening the tin, the aroma is cloyingly sweet and (to my schnoz) sickeningly artificial. I find myself hoping that it tastes better than it smells. The well-cut ribbons appear to be mostly dark Cavendish, with a few errant strands of lighter (Virginia?) wandering about. The blend is moist, but not as wet as many other cased blends I have tried.
Upon lighting up, I am presented with a very sweet, cool, dense smoke. There is no tobacco flavor whatsoever. Mid-bowl, the flavor is slightly less sweet and a bit deeper, but is still very consistant with the start of the bowl (this is not necessarily a good thing). A bit of gurgling, but drying out the ribbons might fix that problem. The finish was not pleasant - hot, raspy and still sickeningly sweet.
It's a good thing that I smoked this in a cob, because after three bowls over two days I think that any briar exposed to this blend will be marked for life with the essance of Eau de Dr. Pepper. The aftertaste in my mouth was both oily amd soapy, reminiscent (to my buds) to canned black olives.
In case you can't tell, I do not care for this blend. When I want a little sweetness in my smoke I rely on the natural caramelly goodness of a quality Virginia blend like 5100.

Good quality tobacco. A liqueur essence. Sweet and fruity. Oops! Should have known better. Excuse me while I clean out my pipe. Paddy

Smoking this is like eating Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls while standing in the perfume department at a drug store .
