I was hugely looking forward to this blend, and I finally saved up enough to put in my order. After receiving my order, I went straight to this blend as I thought I had received a veritable treasure of delight. Pouch note is overwhelmingly raisin. only the mildest hint of chocolate. this was surprising as I had heard all the chocolate brownies and baking reviews. Room note is pleasant enough, but again not the aroma of delight that the reviews stated. Smoking this blend is a trick. you have to puff fast enough to keep it burning, as it doesn't much like to stay lit, but slow enough that it doesn't bite, or turn bitter, which it will at the slightest thing. Lots of goo in the bowl about 2/3 through, which is as far as I've gotten before it turns bitter sour. After smoking this my mouth felt quite leathery but not dry, and it had a bit of a bitter aftertaste. All in all, not my favorite. If you sip it, it is quite pleasant, but if you do anything too crazy to it it gets all bitter... try it for yourself to see.

A Pleasant Black Cavendish with an Exquisite Room Note
This is a straightforward Black Cavendish. The top note is very flavorful, though I cannot place the distinct flavors. It is quite sweet and dominates any flavor from the tobacco. This is not a deal-breaker for me, because the tobacco smokes quite smoothly. As with most straight Black Cavendishes, Black Gold will leave a goopy residue at the bottom of the bowl. My non-smoking sister says the room note smells of marshmallows.
