Well I got my sample of "Sterling's Pride", which is described as a burley, virginia and turkish blend. It smelled like there was a little latakia in it but the sweet aromatic sample that came with it made it hard to discern any natural aroma; that maple smell of the other bag was overpowering. This was a free sample and quite a good portion it was indeed. This is a very mild blend, no latakia as first thought. It needed some drying time to really get it going...and it produced a moderate volume of smoke. I tried this in a cob and it burned without any tongue-bite, there was a slightly musty taste/aroma and though it appeared to be mostly a burley blend it had none of the charateristic nutty aroma. I would have to say that though the aroma was musty, the flavor was really closer to being flat. Again, very nice of the fellas at Sterling to send out a nice portion as a free sample but this is not really a blend I would smoke again.
