The Virginias offer mildly tangy dark fruit, fermented stewed fruit, light tart and tangy citrus with some vinegar, earth, wood and grass as the lead components. The Orientals have a mild smoky, earthy, herbal, vegetative, floral woodiness with a hint of spice and sourness as a secondary player. The Syrian Latakia is dry with almost no wine-like sweetness, and also offers a slight smoke and wood as a condiment. The strength, nic-hit and taste levels are mild. Won’t bite or get harsh, but it does have a few small rough edges. Burns cool and clean at a moderate pace with a mostly consistent, fairly innocuous flavor that translates to the weak after taste and room note. Requires an average number of relights, and leaves very little evidence of moisture in the bowl. Probably deserves two stars, but as I wouldn’t recommend it, I have to give it one.
