This is an overpowering cherry Cavendish. I have used it to mix into other mixtures to give a nice full cherry room note to the mix.
By itself, I find that has harsh undertones to the taste that are unpleasant. As a mixer to add to something else, it is good.

It burns a little hot, but not enough to give tongue bite, unless you puff like a steam engine. It gets very little support from the toasted, nutty burley, but then again, the dark cherry topping is expected to beat it into submission, and does. The grassy, citrusy Virginia forms the base, but it, too, is in the background. The unsweetened black cavendish provides a little brown sugar. The nic-hit is very mild. Burns at a reasonable pace with a fairly consistent flavor. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, and requires a few relights. Has a pleasant, short lived after taste. Can be an all day smoke, even though the cherry topping does lack a little depth.

Cornell & Diehl - Dark Cherry Cavendish.
So here we have today's choice for my Sunday aromatic. Hmm, not bad but not great.
My mixture has been cut finer than the one pictured here, it's quite a fine ribbon. The nose from the pouch is one of mild cherries, but doesn't imply a sour, acerbic, cherry smoke is on its way. Moisture's perfect.
So, the flavouring achieves a few different reactions, from very strong to extremely mild. Well, I'm with the milder folks! As I expected from the pouch note the cherry flavouring doesn't dictate the smoke; it isn't a mordant, acidulous, cherry affair. The cherries add a spot of aromatic sweetness, but no formidable flavour. I find the cherries a little more notable at the beginning. The tobaccos have mostly a Virginia Cavendish character. I don't find the black Cavendish monopolises the smoke with stickiness. The Burley brings a slight roughness, but, again, doesn't take the smoke over. All the different ingredients play their part. My bowls of this have all burnt well, medium temperature, and consistent. I don't find it bites much.
Nicotine: maybe a jot above mild. Room-note: not very 'aromatic'.
Dark Cherry Cavendish? To me, the word Boring exemplifies it. Somewhat recommended:
Two stars.

This blend is simply to light for me. Other than at the light, not much cherry flavor. After that I tended to burn my tongue puffing to get some flavor tobacco or otherwise. Just hot steam. There was no bad taste anywhere here (thus two starts; not one), so if you like very light blends, you may enjoy this. My palate just isn't sensitive enough. I envy those that can enjoy this, as many more aromatics are available to you.

C&D has a lot of great blends, I come to expect all of their blends to be very good. This isn't. You will taste the Virginia and a bit of the burley, the cherry is noticable in the bag and the room note it burns dry. It's ok, not a regular smoke for me. Not complicated.
