I find this blend a pleasant and un-demanding smoke with a mild but interesting flavour profile. The packet note is quite sweet with a scent that is unsurprising given it's name and the moisture level is perfect and stays that way if stored correctly. Visually the picture is dominated by black Cavendish but highlighted by strands of light virginia. Lighting is easy as is keeping the offering lit and the first half of the bowl rewards you with every bit of flavour that the packet note suggests. As the second half of the bowl arrives the sweet nougat flavour subsides slightly to allow more of the tobacco flavours to come forward though the whole experience stays sweet due to the high concentration of black Cavendish. I find that though the whole experience is quite sweet it at no point ever becomes sickly as can often happen with many aro's. If sweet is your thing then you should enjoy this blend as it is easy going and undrematic in a good way. It would definitely be a good starting point for someone who is new to pipe smoking.

Delicious caramel toffee tin aroma but with discernible tobacco aroma too. Very pleasant room note, like if Thornton’s sold tobacco... that would be a shop I would visit often and indeed this is a tobacco I have come back to a number of times. Sweetish smoke, probably from more from the high quantity of cavendish than any casing/topping. Good continuous flavour with general toasted/caramel/cocoa flavours from casing but also very distinctly from the burley included in the blend. Not enough virgina for my taste and although consistent, the mild flavour becomes a little boring after 20 minutes or so. Quite wet with some dottle at the end of the bowl but zero bite experienced. Material/size of bowl has virtually no impact on the flavour. Nothing earth shattering but good enough that I keep coming back to it.

I like GH’s tobaccos a lot. I like them so much that I allow myself to try blends I would otherwise never ever consider. Kentucky Nougat is one of those, clearly out of my comfort zone. When unlit it smell like nougat, vanilla, a very little chocolate. It burns slow, fresh, clean, just enough sweet. Top quality cavendish indeed, as anything frown GH, among the best I tried. I clearly favour this kind of aromatics over Danish blends. Would I buy it again? No, I’m into Virginia flakes with a stronger nicotine charge and that addictive Lakeland flavour.

This is a blend I haven't see available in the US. I got it from an overseas friend. Mixed with a bit of blending Latakia, this blend is top notch. Perfect sweetness without being overpowering or cloying. If you can find this, definitely give it a go!

Paired well with a morning coffee for me.

I found this full flavored and very earthy. It came a little damp out of the pouch but after a little drying out is smoked well. Toffee and fruit can be detected and the further down the pipe you go the richer the taste becomes. Very nice indeed

Im a tool yes for using a Nougat pipe for a nougat tobacco, sue me. I am in general not a fan of heavily flavored or aromatic tobaccos, they tend to leave a coated feeling that I cant move past.

But this blend is the opposite. You get the flavor through and through. It doesn't fade, it doesn't really build from the bowls I've smoked. It stays steady and lasts, enjoyable from the first to last puff. It is very sweet so if that is not your thing, dont bother, But it truly does taste like smoking Nougat, half my life as a chef and baker has taught me that flavor. I love it. comforting and soothing when relaxed and invigorating when on the go. Something I will relish for a long time.

I normally smoke the stronger blends but I was looking for something by way of a change that I could alternate with from time to time. I headed to my local tobacconist for a jar sniffing session and settled on this one which had a rich, sweet, toffee scent, about as far removed from Condor, Old Dark Fired or Royal Yacht as it's possible to get. Many years ago, Benson and Hedges Mellow Virginia was a big seller in the OTC blends. It still is although nowadays it's called Special Virginia and it has lost a lot of that special something that set it apart and made everyone within a certain radius know exactly what you were smoking. This is the nearest thing I've found to those 1970's days with Special Virginia. I taste no citrus at all and only mild traces of chocolate but I am getting lost in the wonderful taste and smell of toffee and cream. It lights at the first time of asking and few if any relights are required. This is wonderful stuff, I will certainly be getting much more of it. Highly recommended.

Bought into the good reviews on this one...wish I hadn't. I've never had to dump a bowl so soon before. It was like smoking burnt marshmallows. I gave it away to a friend who I could then not stand to be around as the smell from this is nauseating - synthetic chocolate and candle wax!

This sickly sweet aromatic is a joy to smoke, you can almost eat the creamy and chocolate nougaty scent. It is quite mild and perfect for a slow relaxing smoke, The tobacco arrives quite damp but it doesn't seem to present any problems and keeps lit fine. For those who want to dabble into the world of aromatics I would recommend this blend.

I may be wrong, but from what I can find of info online (and according to the label in my local tobacconist) this is one of the Gawith, Hoggarth & Co blends that is sold under the Kendal brand – so perhaps the entry here at TR should be changed to "Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. - Kendal Kentucky Nougat"? I'm a little confused about what the difference between the Kendal blend and all the other GH&Co blends are, to be honest.

Anyway:

My first impression of this tobacco was really bad. Ashy, harsh and chemical from the very first puff. As I was reading some very good reviews of the blend here at TR, however, I kept puffing. As I moved to a less windy spot, I actually managed to get a fairly decent smoke out of this blend. Smoked carefully, it was ok for what it is: a simple aromatic blend lots of the flavour that you can smell in the pouch. I don't demand anything more from a standard bulk aromatic, other than no harshness from the flavouring. This tobacco does not live up to that, unfortunately, as the chemical and harsh taste had a tendency to return by the slightest increase in my puffing and sometimes just randomly.

I guess room note is fantastic for non-smokers (I smoke outside, but the smell of the smoke coming from my bowl was like plain caramel or chocolate).

Needs a lot of drying, as it comes at the same consistency and moisture level as tea leaves - after you brewed your pot. When dried, however, it burns well. Requires more than the average amount of relights, as is expected with an aromatic. No bite. Leaves some moisture in the bowl.

Edit may 2020: I am not chucking the last few bowls worth of this blend into the recycling. I assumed I would be in the mood for it from time to time, so I kept it, but that has not happened. Just tried it one last time, and that simply confirmed my initial impression. Try something like Solani Red Label if you want an aromatic that performs better. After all, this one is put to far better use as bio fuel for the city's busses, together with other kitchen scraps, than as storage-filler in this over-priced rental market. I'll get the bus next time I go to my local tobacco shop. Circle of life.
