I have to admit, vanilla isn't (by itself) a flavor I normally care for in an aromatic. Many are either too one-note, boring, or chemical-tasting for my taste. Some suffer a combination of two traits or even all three. However, since I sell this stuff, I figured I better try some to be able to (somewhat) intelligently discuss it with customers. To my surprise, the custard aspect really elevates this beyond just another run-of-the-mill vanilla pipe tobacco. While I have not yet had a chance to try the Mac vanilla cream, I'm not exactly running to it after having tasted this. This is super-sweet stuff, but I have a sweet tooth, so when the mood strikes me, that isn't a problem. And while I'm sure it has PG or some agent to keep it moist, and isn't heavy enough to ruin the taste for me. It's also pretty fun to open the jar at the store, because the smell (which is quite pleasant) just swarms the room, and just about everyone who smells it has a look on his/her face like a kid having just discovered the big candy treat at the bottom of a Christmas stocking. Sure, it isn't for everyone, but I can't think of a single pipe tobacco which suits every single person. If you don't care much for aromatics, run the other way. If you do like aromatics, at least take a whiff. We only started selling this stuff about 4-5 weeks ago, and already have trouble keeping it in stock.

One of the first Pipe tobaccos I tried after asking the local tobacconist for a second suggestion , the smell for this is amazing if it were food you would want to eat it right away.

I actually liked this one. With aromatics, many fall short of keeping flavor once lit and puffed a bit - but Sutliff is one of those companies that produces very good aros. Vanilla Custard is everything you would think of by the name. Great tin note (although I bought this is bulk), great flavor that lingers long into the pipe smoking, and a matching room note to boot. I would say this one is a winner for those who are looking for a good vanilla blend.

Complete Aromatic Smoker here. You get what is advertised. This blend smells great out of the bag with an equally great room note. It smokes cool to a white ash with no bite. Very few relights with a light and sweet taste that doesn't overwhelm in my opinion. I smoke aromatics for the flavor and this is flavorful but mild. Would purchase again and will have no problem finishing what I have left.

Vanilla flavor front and center! Strong and thick in keeping with its name. Nothing subtle about this blend. The room note is wonderful and this is one that I commonly smoke in public. I have never recieved a negative comment from those around me. A nice, smooth smoke, no tongue bite and a great aroma.

As this is a vanilla tobacco, I will compare it to my favorite bulk tobacco, Lane 1-Q. While it is sweeter, and has more flavor, it is more moist and requires more relights. 1-Q is a "light it and forget it" kind of all day smoke. I would call this an after dinner, dessert tobacco. Still sticky after 2 years in a Mason jar.

I enjoy 1q and 1m on occasion as well. I puff very few aromatics. this one is my favorite. I enjoy it indoors. I luv custard anyway. i do enjoy 1m and 1q also but not often. this is a really good mellow smoke with some body. the room note is most pleasant. the flavor does carry that custard vanilla flavor. not over done at all. most aromatics don't carry the flavor of the smell. this one does for me. I do get a hint of marshmallow. the tobacco itself is satisfying. as a Balken/English smoker this is nice for a break and cleanse the palate some.

I've been smoking Sutliff Vanilla Custard for years and it continues to be one of my top aromatic blends. It has a very confectionary type of vanilla flavor in both taste and smell, you will hardly taste any tobacco. Burns well after you let it dry for a bit and smokes cool with few relights. It generally keeps its flavor throughout the entirety of the bowl. This an all-around great aromatic.

This is a 1 oz sample picked up for something different. Sutliff Vanilla Custard has a wonderful jar note. It seems very much like vanilla custard. The jar note translates very well into the smoke and it is creamy, buttery vanilla that does remained me of vanilla custard with a trace of honey that comes and goes. The casing is heavy enough that I don't get a lot of tobacco flavor what does come through is very earthy. The smoke is very mild overall, don't expect a lot of smoke unless you push it, which should not be done as it gets hot. The nic hit is not noticeable. Room note is very nice. It will smoke a little wet and does need a few more than the average number of relights. This is a solid 3 star aromatic blend!

If you are in search of the ultimate Vanilla pipe tobacco this is it. Great in the morning with that cup of joe. Smokes cool, won't bite and burns to a nice gray ash. Delivers vanilla, vanilla and vanilla! Not one I would smoke all day as I am an English man, just not in the A.M.
