Low Country Pipe & Cigar Carolina Christmas 2009

(3.00)
From snow covered cabins near Asheville to the festively decorated streets of Charleston, few regions celebrate Christmas with the friendly verve of the Carolinas. To share the spirit of this special time and place, we created this exquisite limited edition broken flake. Rich red Virginias sit atop a base of a blend of white and dark burleys, joined by Green River black cavendish for a touch of sweetness. The barest hint of Cyprian latakia serves to accentuate the main components, pulling together the entire sophisticated composition.
Notes: Limited to a total production of only 180 tins.

Let me 1st say a special thanks to Kilmarnock Piper for gracing me with this tin. This is blended from C&D tobaccos and as such the quality of tobacco is very good. This is an aromatic style of tobacco that I dare say has some complexity to it. The virginias and burley play well with eachother and the latakia sits well in the back - barely detectable. There seems to be a chocolate topping that is very mild in flavor but is more detectable in the room note and smell while burning. This blend kind of reminds me of a much more refined Lane 1Q with much more complexity and less of a goopy sweetness. The nicotine punch is on the heavier side and can pack a little bit of a wallop to it. If you like Lane 1Q this is a couple of steps up and will not disappoint you. I do not detect the moldy flavors that Kilmarnock detected however there is a slight bitterness that is detected from time to time in the backround probably attributed to the burley and small amount of latakia playing together. I like this blend and will smoke it when in the mood for a high quality aromatic with complexity. I recommend this to aromatic lovers and for those like myself that do not normaly smoke aromatics but enjoy a quality aromatic blend from time to time.

Did anyone open their tin and try it? Just got a tin in the mail today and not sure if I should open it or hold onto it.
