I finished my first tin of this blend. Broken flakes only took an effortless quarter twist to break up into perfect cut for my taste. No moisture, burns cool, stays lit and produces lots of smoke. I found the blend to be full in flavor especially with the perique. This blend comes alive after a few sips of black coffee, in fact, I can't really taste it too well without coffee on the tongue. Nicotine content seemed high and left a lumpy feeling on the throat.

Smoking a 2017 tin that had a nice "whoosh" when it was opened.

The tin note was quite earthy. The moisture content for me required just a little drying to get to burn well. The cut is broken flake C&D style which makes for easy packing as is or broken up even more depending on bowl shape and preference.

Once lit, it provides a very consistent smoke through the bowl. The burley/ky lead the way in flavor, but there is a nice sweet top note from the red VA which I was not expecting. It burns well through the bowl producing some moisture and requiring a few pipe cleaners. With 5 years of age, it is quite an enjoyable smoke and I'm glad I have a few more tins put back in the cellar.

I love this blend. I suppose I might be a fan of the burley, but coming to pipes from cigars - these blends offer a richness with tobacco other blends just don’t offer, IMO.

This is a great blend to start the day with a coffee as a companion. It’s rich and deep with flavor. It’s not going to offer you zest like a Virginia, no hay, no sugary sweet - just a plain old deep tobacco flavor. It does have some sweet notes, but it’s sweet like coffee with a dash of sugar.

If I had to do a head to head between a Virginia and a burley, I’d pick burley all day. They don’t burn near as hot and offer a fullness Virginia’s lack. The nutty, earthy and deep flavor of a good burly is far superior to the light and fluffy Virginia, to me anyway. It’s heavier, stronger and I can leave a pipe of this feeling satisfied.

I look forward to smoking the remaining numbers of C&D’s burley - but, if they are anything like this - they’ll be stock piled along this one in the cellar. Probably not a beginner’s smoke - but, I’d recommend it to everyone. A+ in my book. Great smoke.

The tin note is pure raisin bread. Predominantly I get notes of earth, cigar, pepper and dark espresso. Not sure the ratio of Burley to Perique is playing well here. I find it a bit wild, rough around the edges. It is harsh in many spots with the cigar note turning regrettably cigarette like. All in all one might say it has a pure "tobacco" note. Thank you, next.

Really loved this one. Nice nutty flavor. Great nic hit. It burns cool. What is there not to like? Great tin presentation and smell. Can't really comment on the room note.

This one is probably the best Burley blend I've had to date. I'm not a huge fan of burley's but I got a sample of this one at the CORPS show in Richmond and it is fantastic. It is sort of a creamy almost cigar like smoke, very earthy tasting and smooth. This one has somewhat of a nic hit, but not as strong as BF #3. I look forward to getting more of this at some point.

Tin aroma is very strong so is the nicotine, I love it. These flake will crumble easily and depending how you like to pack will equally smoke well whole. Taste is earthy, rich and spicy from the Perique, burley I find adds some nutty taste but mostly remains dark in flavor more savory i guess. Last is the Virginia that makes for some sweet notes. Highly recommended

Burley forward outstanding smoke. The Fired Ky plays in for that smoky flavor while the Perique adds more fruity notes. the Virginia component does add a bit of hay like sweetness as well. Mostly earthy nutty burley goodness here though. Burns clean and cool throughout the process with few relights. No bite for me and not burn either. This stuff is pretty darn good and has enough nicotine to give you a bit of a tingle. Ages well too, the stuff I am smoking is over 5 years old, Highly recommended if Burley is your bag!
