Cornell & Diehl Burley Flake #3
(3.42)
Burley Flake #3 is a blend of cool burning burley and rich, dark fired Kentucky which team up with a bit of fine Virginia for the natural sweetness and welcome fragrance. Lastly, C&D added a dash of perique for additional nuance.

The flakes are broken and quite dry as per normal with C&D tobacco in my experience. The perique is ever present and tingly on the retro hale, the red virginias are sweet, almost tart. The burley is pleasantly rough like a dirty cigar and given room to show off their earthiness by the other constituent tobaccos. I don't detect the characteristic nuttiness or cocoa in this burley. Pack it tighter than you might otherwise, and of course smoke it slowly, or it can bite. I will definitely be buying more of this stuff.
