Mac Baren Capstan Gold Navy Cut
(3.34)
This blend is a composition of select, bright, sun cured Virginia leaf. Pressed, stored and cut into flakes. Capstan Gold Flake with the natural Virginia sweetness is a must try for everyone who appreciates a good, straightforward Virginia Blend.
Notes: Formally blended by Orlik and originally by W.D. & H.O. Wills. See W.D. & H.O. Wills for reviews of the original Capstan Gold Navy Cut. Produced by Mac Baren since 2006.

Nice and easy flake with accurate moisture smells sweet with kind of mild toping on it. Beside this toping taste of burning tobacco is great. Sweet, mellow, fresh... this is how yellow VA should taste. Very similar to my favorite Scottish Autumn flake from SG&Stanislaw cooperation but with mentioned toping.

When opening the tin, it smells a bit sweet, with notes of dry grass and citrus.
The flakes are packaged in two stacks in the tin and were easy to rub down.
It is a consistently mild tobacco: in the beginning, it tasted slightly of oranges. In the middle of the bowl, an aroma of hay came along, but the orange was still there throughout and to the end.
I experienced merely two, very minor, negative things: it did demand a few more relights than I usually prefer, and it could burn slightly warm, if pushed a bit.
All in all, I found this to be a perfect summer evening smoke, or for those moments when you wish to relax and not even think about anything.

I perfectly agree with Sgt Pepper.
This is a very mild, pleasant and soft golden virginia in perfectly made flakes. The flavoring is mild, just as it should.
Go for 1-2 hours of pleasure (depending on the bowl) with a pleasant room note.
Not especially an evening tobacco, but a very pleasant one indeed.
Different, but can be compared to Orlik Golden Slice, although I prefer the real flake here.

In my opinion this one is even better than original navy cut.
