Mac Baren Capstan Gold Navy Cut
(3.34)
This blend is a composition of select, bright, sun cured Virginia leaf. Pressed, stored and cut into flakes. Capstan Gold Flake with the natural Virginia sweetness is a must try for everyone who appreciates a good, straightforward Virginia Blend.
Notes: Formally blended by Orlik and originally by W.D. & H.O. Wills. See W.D. & H.O. Wills for reviews of the original Capstan Gold Navy Cut. Produced by Mac Baren since 2006.

I've been on a journey trying all the Gawith & Hoggarth blends lately, so I decided to reset my palette and try some 2013 Capstan Gold. It was a refreshing change that burned easily and was very smokey. Had a citrus-like flavor that was mild which made me puff more to try and find something more - When I couldn't find anything else, I returned to a slow even smoke. It is a consistent, mild very good basic smoke that could be an all day tobacco for some, but not for me. I enjoyed it, but it didn't hold my attention - In conclusion I'd say its a very good stable Virginia tobacco that is top shelf, yet its a bit boring with no complexity or flavor other than a slight citrus - A nice hot summer day smoke.

One of the few baccas i can get locally, altso one of my summertime favourites. A quite straight virginia, but not boring or bland. I rub it out for smoking but great as is.Tastes amazing, but does not tip over to extraordinary so only 3 stars.

Fresh opened tin, I did not like it. A little bit harsh and boring. The tin size however being very practical I used it for some flakes I got in a pouch.
Coming back to this flake in it's zipperbag after a year I was pleasantly surprised.
Verdict: quite nice!
Update may 2011 It's growing on me... 2nd tin, smoked quite well straight away without drying, just fold and stuff a flake in my Upshall churchwarden, or half a flake rubbed a bit and rolled into a ball. Still not a favourite, but a nice diversion in this months rotation of MVF, Negrohead and Onyx.
