One of the English blends that I like the most of all the ones I have tried. I think that an important difference with respect to other mixes of the same type, lies in the fact that the power of the virginias that McClelland uses is not overshadowed by the Latakia, something that is the case with other English and Balkan mixes. The flavor provides a good diversity of nuances, roasted, smoked, buttery, sweet and sour. When I smoke it at night with a good whiskey, I enjoy it like a pig in a puddle.

Four firm stars.

I have little to add to what Jiminks has said, just that I find this to be an extremely well integrated blend. The tin I have was from 2008, so it had 8 years of aging which may have been responsible for the melding of flavors. I usually go for something with a bit more of a statement from the latakia but I found this to be a very satisfying smoke.

My o my does Jubilee make for a wonderful breakfast smoke! I would have purchased Jubilee years ago but every time I read the tin description in the store and seeing Latakia, Perique and Turkish I imagined a heady and powerhouse blend (I should have looked up reviews). Instead Jubilee is mostly a ribbon cut Virginia / Oriental with some Latakia and Perique condimental tobacco's added for spice which is perfect for that first bowl of the day. Mild on the strength / Nicotine level and does not tire the palate. The Latakia and Perique are very lightly applied so I didn't get the normal Pepe Le Pew reaction from the ladies which is appreciated and therefore I can enjoy that first pipe in the house. Believe all the four star reviews and try Jubilee before the existing tins are exhausted.

Tin: tin date-2008. Definitely a toasted sweetness of light syrup-toast, maybe partly due to a light oriental background. A mahogany hue, dark tan with a few flecks of black. Barely supple to a tad dry. Standard ribbon cut. No residue left on the fingers.

Taste & Aroma: Nice, smooth and mellow, but nothing stands out. Maybe a tad bit of earthy tones but has a stale almond aroma.

Nicotine: Moderate to strong

Overall: Nice, smooth, and mellow, but nothing distinguishing, with a stale aroma.
