What to say, this is the tobacco of my life. You should understand what I mean. The tobacco of one smoker's life it's not a perfect tobacco, it's not the wonder of wonders...it's just a tobacco that matches most of the features a smoker asks from a tobacco. This is the tobacco I would ask for, if I might have just a single tobacco for the rest of my life... And it is a simple, average, cheap tobacco. Let's see it. It's a flake in pouch, and it's a flake that comes just perfectly hydrated, and it keeps that humidity for a long time, this is very important to me, even because I really hate dry tobacco. Of course, if you want to stock it in large quantities you will need to stock it closed in good glass jars. It's naturally aromatic, and if contains any topping, that it's very discrete. I love to smoke it pure, finding it a naturally sweet virginia/burley mix, well balanced in taste, with average strength, with a lovely room note. But I can use it to make a great E.M., adding different rates of pure Latakìa as I do. I can also make a nice and flavoured aromatic, by mixing my preferred flavour for this exact moment, sometimes some vanilla tobacco, sometimes some liquor flavored tobacco, and so on. It's the perfect flake for a new smoker, because it is so easy to smoke, and it will be great for the experienced smoker too, when he needs an honest easy tobacco to smoke with not much effort and concentration. OK, you could say that all this is nothing new because you can do it with many tobaccos here around... True. But the point is that, however you use it, it will bring with its nice features: it will smoke fresh, it will be ideally hidrated, it will give a long lasting smoke, it will need no relights, It will never bite, it will be cheap in price! And I can find it everywhere, where I live! Understand me, if I could find everyday my beloved Dunhill Navy Rolls, and if I could pay it same price like PL7, I would stick with Dunhill...but Dunh costs double and I can't find it everywhere I want and...now is dicontinued!!! I am smoking this old flake since 20 years now, and I hope producers will be never so rude to dicontinue it... Yes, PL7 is my number ONE.
Pipe Used: All my pipes! Savinelli Punto Oro mainly.
PurchasedFrom: City tabacconists.
Age When Smoked: New from shop, also after cellared for 1 year...

I found my all day tobacco, finally! It is light and sweet enough to satisfy my taste, a faithful friend for every moment of the day, while reading, studying or just relaxing. It has an aromatic note that I really like, very balanced and never excessive, with a wonderful and delicate milk/chocolate flavour, without losing the taste of natural tobacco. I experimented many aromatic tobaccos in these years, but PL7 has something more than the others, I know it's just a matter of personal likes, but I think I discovered my ideal smoke, simply perfect for me. It is probably the lightest flake I ever smoked, and I consider this as a value, because I can enjoy it even in the early morning without any problem.

The only negative note is that Orlik does not longer produce this tobacco...I've read that maybe the brand will pass under British American Tobacco or Oettinger/Davidoff, however I hope that Park Lane will remain available, as it has been for decades.

In my opinion it is a classic, which surely deserve your attention.

If only I could find it in Greece, where I live… Each time while in Italy, I purchase as much as legal limits allow. This is a tobacco which I call “peace of mind”.
