McClelland Orient 996, vintage 2007
(2.80)
A very special blend of sugary bright Virginia and aged, mellow red Virginia, seasoned with a good amount of rare Yenidje and a touch of Syrian Latakia. Ready to smoke, but designed to age beautifully.

The jury is still out for me regarding this blend. So far, I've only experienced one tin (many more are cellared, based on expectations), and it was a disappointment.
For the record, the tin was pretty much fresh from the company, with nothing more than a month of age on it.
I've never before encountered a blend that was so inconsistent in flavor from bowl to bowl. (A blending issue?) Some bowls were all Virginia, some all-oriental. . . and only rarely did the unique flavor of Syrian latakia come through at all. Frankly, after just a few bowls, I gave the rest of the tin away -- and that's something I just don't do.(g)
I'll revisit this once its had a couple of years to sit in the tin, to see if that helps at all.

A very pleasant smoke, not an everyday smoke. Sweet and sirupy, burns well even if on too well. Smoke it in small prince and very slowly. Sweet Virginia and orientals very much forward , Syrian Latakia in the background. I smoke right now a 2007 in 2021 so it can be the cellaring did good, never tried it fresh. This tobacco reminds me of cellared wine with a lot of barique, Very fascinating at first but then you may get tired of it. My favorite at this time is SLeader and this can complement it in a fine way. If you wish a little more kick. Alas an other few bowls and this little dream will become past. Such is life.
