John Patton Moe's Confetti
(3.13)
John's most popular blend. A combination of burleys give this a nutty and slightly sweet taste with a wonderful room note. Best smoked in a corn cob pipe.

For a burley smoker this is a wonderful blend. It is mild, biteless, has lots of taste and has the old fashion burley aroma and flavor. It is not complex, it is not fancy, but it is a good blend. It is an all day type of blend that satisfies. It is of course burley with a flavoring reminding me of chocolate but not powerfully so. It is great in a cob. It comes at the perfect moisture level. It is an all brown tobacco, and the pouch aroma is burley with a sweet aroma. It packs easy, it lites on the first light and it gives a nice mild smooth flavor to the smoker. It smoked all the way doen to a grey ash without having to relight and burns a little slower than some of John's other blends. If your looking for complex, this is not it, if you want a good all day blend, this is it.

A fantastic "OTC" style codger blend; sweet, nutty & smooth; a perfect all day blend that is extremely smooth and consistent, never bites. It has earned a place in my regular rotation; a delightful blend!

John Patton - Moe's Confetti.
As Burleys go, they don't come much better than this. Made me remember how much I enjoy a good Burley!
The pouch has a slightly aromatic note emanating from it, not one to suggest 'heavily cased', but flavoured nonetheless. As always with 4noggins, the moisture of it's perfect: slightly moist, but that's how I like it.
The smoke tastes fabulous. The Burley's rich, toasty, rustic, and nutty, and there's a very delicate top-note of added flavour: slightly chocolatey, slightly sweet, with a tiny touch of something fragrant. But, although it's notable, it isn't heavily added. The burn from Moe can't be faulted: fairly slow, cool, and independent. I don't get any tongue bite throughout a bowl, whether it's sucked or sipped.
Nicotine: mild to medium. Room-note: lovely.
A very well accomplished blend. Four stars:
Highly recommended.

Well for me this is the ultimate OTC Burley. Rich, smooth codger Burley with a cocoa sweetness. Just an easygoing Burley, easy to like and for me a near perfect morning coffee smoke.
I read in one of these reviews and went to Walgreens to test the theory that this is a mix of Carter Hall and Blender's Gold Golden Burley. Boy it was close, in every aspect. I did a batch that was 1/2 Walgreens, 1/4 CH and 1/4 Prince Albert, and I would bet my paycheck that is exactly what this tobacco is. Identical in every regard. The Walgreens stuff needs a lot of drying time, and Moe's is perfect out of the mail. Add up the cost of components and add the gas you spent driving around to get them and Moe's is cheaper as well.
Patton made a couple classic codger Burleys using mundane components. You could look down your nose at this blend as a mix of three OTC Burleys, or you can see the genius of John coming up with a blend that eclipses its components. Personally I think of John like I do Bob Runowski, a great American pipeman and Burley master. This blend is a winner for Burley lovers and never, ever fails to satisfy.

I received a sample of this with a pipe purchase recently. I am into the old codger type burleys and this blend was right up my alley. I will agree with the other reviewers that this blend has qualities of both Carter Hall and Prince Albert, but it seems like there is just a bit more there in a top note. I cant put my finger on it, but its definitely got a sweet something going on. Good blend all in all, but when I have a codger burley requirement, I will continue to reach for the prince. **Update 7-28-18** Just coming back to this blend, which has been cellared for the last two years, and it is fantastic! Actually sweeter than I remembered, but not in a cloying way. I would categorize this blend as a very light aromatic. Burns like a dream with no chance of bite. Whatever top note is on this blend reminds me very much of the topping used on Bald Headed Teacher. This is a very good blend and well worth a try.

What can I say about this blend, except that right now it's my favorite. It definitely is best in a cob, but also a great smoke in a clean briar. I bet a meer would do very well with this blend as well.
A great burley, just a little bit of sweetness, and very creamy. I have not had this blend bite, even when I tried. Lit very well with no drying needed. Stays lit as long as I tamp. I have put a pound of this on my christmas list, just hoping somebody comes through with it!

Last summer I really smoked a lot of this, sitting on the porch.....for me this is a truly relaxing smoke. Slightly sweet, not goopy at all, very nice nutty taste, and terrific room note. Very recommended.
