Sutliff Tobacco Company Heavy English #503
(3.23)
Lemon Virginias, Smyrna and other Orientals, and Latakia are combined in Sutliff's Heavy English, which despite its name is rather lightly balanced as far as Latakia mixtures go — some even find it quite suitable for an "all day" type of smoke.
Notes: A hearty English blend combining Smyrna, lemon Virginia, Oriental grades and high in latakia content. For the sophisticated pipe smoker.

Heavy english, hardly. This is more like english lite. I suppose there is plenty of latakia present but it's very weak. I do like the broad ribbon cut because it packs so well in large bowls. If you dabble in english blends occasionally you might enjoy this.

A pleasant smoke. The latakia certainly builds as the bowl progresses. Flavor starts sweet/smooth and gets spicy down the bowl. The blend base is virginia with no burly. It is sweet, mellow and tasty, with a strong dose of latakia, much more latakia than other Altadis English blends.
If you do not like this you can find an Altadis English (or balkan) blend that is just right for you since they have so many available, all in the mild/medium to medium range. I prefer less latakia, but smoke this when I want a smooth English with no bite and the latakia craving hits.
My favorite so far is Altadis English Oriental, which includes the Smyrna for sweetness and a gentle touch of St James parish perique, much less latakia and burly for added strength.
But try a few and see if you find one that stands out for you.
