4noggins Three Blind Moose

(3.47)
A blend of burley and dark, light & black cavendish tobaccos that, when combined, make a delightful aromatic with a hint of butterscotch in the background. Three Blind Moose could easily be an all day blend enjoyed in public while fending off comments from strangers, such as "What a lovely tobacco that is young man. What is it called?"

This is a pleasant 3-star recommendation for those who prefer a lighter style aromatic. For me this and Thomas kind of fill a similar niche among aromatics (nutty, caramel, maple, butterscotch). Thomas is clearly the more full-blown aromatic, which you can tell just from the jar note. Three Blind Moose is more restrained in its jar note, and smokes more like a semi-aromatic, meaning you can still make out some of the natural tobacco taste here. However, the base blend is fairly simple and not so interesting to me, being just Burley and Cavendish. Personally, in this style, I much prefer Country Squire’s Rivendell, which has more depth and more layered complexity – a true four-star masterpiece. Still, I can’t imagine many not getting some enjoyment from this.

In the end, if you are exploring Burley-Cavendish aromatics, you’ll have to try this for yourself and decide your own level of enthusiasm. My own two cents worth is that it burns smooth, not goopy, just a tad past mild in taste. The butterscotch is, as the descriptions states, well into the background. Give it a minute or two to hit its stride.

An aromatic done right. Toppings are applied with a light touch, and meld beautifully with the tobacco. Burned sugar and nuts. Reminiscent of Trout Stream but more subdued. Some are comparing to Anglers Dream, which I don’t get because AD is the only tobacco I’ve ever thrown away, as it tasted like torched ass. Three Blind Moose is the perfect smoke for after dinner with friends around the fire pit.
