Stanwell Kir & Apple
(2.78)
This blend is made from black cavendish, gently pressed and fermented ready rubbed Virginia and burley together with bright wild-cut Virginia. Fruity black currant and apple flavours underline the taste of this mixture.
Notes: Due to EU regulations, this is renamed and sold in those countries as "Green & Indigo".

I bought a 100g tin of this on the spur of the moment while browsing a tobacconist in Germany and to be honest I was a little wary as I hadnt had much success with aromatics in the past. I needn't have worried though because Kir and Apple has proven to be a very acceptable and well behaved aro, it doesn't gunk up my pipes and smokes fairly cool for an aro. The tin note is very strong, blackberry comes through mostly. Easy to pack and maintain, this blend as I say smokes less hot than most aros which is one of the reasons I rate it. One reason I prefer non aromatics is that I love the taste of the tobaccos and their various qualities, with aros including this one, I find that the topping often takes away much of the quality of the tobacco. But this is a blend I go to maybe once or twice a week still and it will remain a favourite of mine when I look for a change. The room note is very pleasant even noticable to me as I smoke, others seem to adore the smell of this weed.

Life is full of challenges... so Kir & Apple is like that. If you ever smoked sisha (hookah) is just the same, for you. For people around is a strange smell with a strange consistency. But somehow is pleasant and enjoyable. Try it in party time, is not bad at all. But... otherwise....

Very good quality aromatic blend. The black current and apple mesh together well. Excellent tin note, moisture content spot on and very easy loading cut. Lit and burned well throughout the bowl. The first bowl right out of the tin was not overwhelming nor bland by any means, just a good solid smoke. Taste was much like the tin note-- which I found to be a natural mesh of quality tobacco and fruit. Flavor sustained throughout the bowl. Did not gum up the pipe and left little dottle. As is my usual process I waited a week before trying this blend again. If any thing the breathing process upgraded the aroma and flavor. If you like trying different aros as a change of pace as I do you should give this one a try.

Good quality aromatic tobacco. Lits well, burns well, no tongue bite, clean dry smoke. Smell and taste of apple everywhere. Worth to try it, but not an everyday smoke.

It's not a broken flake, at least not the tin I received. What I got was ribbon cut, but no big deal. Tin note is strong but highly unique and super pleasant, especially if you like tart fruitiness, which I do. Black currant and green apple...wait, what? I could smell this outside of the shipping box even though the tin was undamaged and vacuum-sealed...that's how strong the tin note is. There appears to be a larger burley proportion than normal, and the blend feels quite dry to the touch. Both being signs of a good aro to me. This stuff smokes excellently, good burn quality typical of what I've come to expect do from Stanwell blends. As far as taste goes, I don't really know how to describe it. If I had to pick one description, I'd say "crisp". Crisp, sweet and a little tart. I definitely don't get any of that green apple or currant flavor hinted at by the smell. I gotta say, I'd never have seen this tobacco on a list and said "there, that's the one I gotta have". Thankfully, it came in a sampler, and I'm glad to have tried it. I plan on getting a few more cans when this runs out, it's just a nice refreshing summer blend in my opinion.
