Boswell Pipes & Tobacco Christmas Cookie
(3.27)
An aromatic that you can smoke year round with a very pleasant vanilla cookie flavor. This will definitely please everyone in the room as well as the serious smoker. You do not need to like aromatics to enjoy this blend. A heady smoke all day long.

Relatively new piper here, so take this for what it's worth. The bag note was pleasant, but underwhelming. I allowed some to dry on a paper plate for about 10-15 minutes before packing the bowl. Took a little effort to get it lit but it went the whole bowl without a relight.
With the relatively mild bag note, my expectations were set relatively low, but WOW, at first light it was a very tasty smoke. After two bowls I find this to favor a sip over a deep draw and was vastly improved with a bit of rest between puffs. My palate didn't really find Christmas cookie so much, but more of a slightly sweet DD cake doughnut. That being said, this is very close to the top of my list among aros. I will definitely be getting more to keep it handy. I could enjoy this one every day.

First impression when opening the tin is that the vacuum seal doesn't exist. For those who never had any boswell tin in hands i have to say, they are not built for aging.
The aroma is incredible, little faint in comparison with his brother "Chocolate cream".
It requires a few lights before get ready, but once it burning will go great til the end.
The room note is awesome, no one will complain.
Concerning the toppings, one that impressed me most was the "peppery" sensation, there is something like ginger, black pepper, that gives a kind of sweet fresh spicy feeling. The vanilla is clear there but not the liquor/wisky. Not for me. I can feel more cocoa, brown sugar, the sweetness notes lingers for while after finished the bowl. The aroma matches perfectly with the flavor, this is a great aromatic.
The nicotine level is low, perhaps it's what makes it an all day smoke. No chance of nic-kick. Doesn't bite the tongue but as all aromatics, i recommend you sip instead of puffing, keeping the pace slow will offers you plenty more flavors.
3 stars.

Smoking now:
Bag note smells like vanilla, honey, raisins. Fairly moist but smoked just fine.
Tastes like a typical wet aromatic. Very mild flavor. Has a sweet, cookie, bread like flavor. Not bad at all. For being a wet aromatic it handled very well. Smoked cool, little relights, no harshness. A pleasant aromatic pipe tobacco. Co workers said it is not as nice smelling or aromatic as Lane 1Q, but Christmas Cookie was very light and non offensive. The taste is much of the same. The most impressive part was how well and easy it was to smoke. Not bad. Too light for me.

Christmas blends are my favorite, I want to try them all, so I go into each Christmas blend with great expectations! Opening the tin, what I smelled was vanilla, spices, maybe liquor (was hard to tell). The flavor I tasted was vanilla and spice, it smelled better than it tasted. I did not have any tounge-bite with this blend.

Summary: a vanilla-caramel aromatic with light spices that you can smoke in a roomful of people without many complaints.
The Cavendish dominates this blend with its soft velour-like smoke and gentle sweetness, with a light Burley and some Virginia playing a backing role and mostly swallowed up by the topping, which mostly presents a caramel or sugar flavor with a smattering of spices, perhaps cinammon and nutmeg, behind a wall of what tastes like rum and vanilla. Since this is one of the better aromatics of my acquaintance, it accompanied me on a test run out in the "real world," where people commented that it smelled like a very gentle version of an old-type pipe. Boswell's deserves credit however for making an aromatic that burns cool and lacks the stinging tongue nip of most alcohol/sugar concoctions applied to tobacco, and I could see mixing this with some stout Burley to smoke throughout any family gathering or holiday.

Christmas Cookie gave me a vanilla extract sort of flavor, quite pleasant and easy to smoke. I was told the room note was pleasant and did indeed smell of warm sugar cookies. Nothing too exiting, but it delivers as advertised.

It occured to me that the cookie jar at Christmas has several varieties, so which one am I smoking here? The bag gives off a heavy chocolate, burned sugar, boozy cloud that lingers in the air (this was the 5th Boswell Aromatic I've had, and they all reek from buckets of topping), so perhaps all the cookies were just microwaved together?
I felt bad for my pipe as I took a wad of the sticky stuff and packed it full. The lit product is mild without much nicotine. Releasing a sweet flavor that does a decent job of emulating sugar cookie dough. I think I'm becoming jaded, as I just can't get past the idea of it being a "toy" tobacco that will only appeal to a non discerning Aromatic smoker. If you twisted my arm, I would tell you Christmas Cookie and their No Bite Delight are the best of the 5 recently purchased Boswell blends, but honestly they were much the same in execution.
I will admit that Boswell Aromatics have some of the best room notes around, so while they may not be the best to smoke, your friends will certainly love you.

Best part of this blend is the room note. I get very little in the the taste department. If anything maybe a slight hint of vanilla.

Quite tasty, I don't know about the "Christmas cookie" thing, but its a pretty tasty blend. The room note is what would be expected from an aromatic, and their is no tongue bite. All in all, not bad at all, but im a bigger fan of Boswell's "Cupcake." Heck now that I think about it, maybe I do taste a little cookie 🙂

I'm not a huge fan of vanilla flavored aromatics. However, something about Boswell's Christmas Cookie has gained my attention. Purchased in a new 2 oz tin from their Chambersburg PA store, I decided to try one of their tinned tobaccos instead of buying in bulk (as I had tried their Autumn Sampler a few years ago to some disappointment). This tobacco is everything an aromatic smoker could want in a blend. The tobacco fills a bowl nicely, has an inviting vanilla room note (that smells like cake batter), and I find that it burns very well with few relights needed at all. This tobacco has given me hope that I might find more enjoyment in many of Boswell's blends in the near future. Get this in the 2 oz tin as you won't be disappointed.
